Break-Even Sale Price Calculator
The lowest price you can accept without losing money.

- Break-even price = (purchase cost + fixed fee + shipping you pay + other costs) ÷ (1 − fee %). Divide by the share of the price you keep; adding the fee to your cost leaves you short.
- With a percentage fee, every złoty of cost raises the floor by more than a złoty: at Allegro Lokalnie's 7.9% (checked 13 Sept 2026), 1 zł of cost needs about 1.09 zł of price.
- Example: an 80 zł jacket with 6 zł of cleaning and packaging breaks even at 93.38 zł on Allegro Lokalnie Kup teraz, not at 86 zł and not at 92.79 zł.
- Set the floor when you list and use it for every offer and markdown. Going below it is a clearance decision, and even clearance has a floor: the costs a sale still triggers, grossed up for the fee.
Your break-even sale price is the lowest price at which a sale pays back the item, the marketplace fee, the shipping you cover and small extras. With a percentage fee you can't just add the fee to your cost, because the fee grows with the price. This break-even price calculator works backwards from your costs to a real floor for offers and markdowns, and to the price for the profit you want.
How to use the break-even price calculator
- Pick a Currency. It changes the symbol only; nothing is converted.
- Choose a Marketplace preset or keep "Custom — enter your own fee". A preset fills Marketplace fee and Fixed fee per order, and its note names the source and check date.
- Enter Purchase cost, Shipping you pay, Other costs per item and Profit you want.
You get Break-even price, Price for your target profit and Fees at target price. The calculator runs exactly this:
Example with the default inputs: 31.50 of costs ÷ 0.90 = 35.00, and 35.00 − 4.00 in fees − 31.00 = 0.
Why break-even is not just cost price
Cost price is what you paid; break-even adds what a sale takes out of the price. Two shortcuts still lose money:
| Method | Allegro Lokalnie example: 80 zł cost + 6 zł extras | Profit at that price after the 7.9% fee |
|---|---|---|
| Sell at cost plus extras | 86.00 zł | −6.79 zł |
| Add 7.9% to 86 zł | 92.79 zł | −0.54 zł |
| Divide 86 zł by 0.921 | 93.38 zł | 0.00 zł |
The 7.9% is Allegro Lokalnie's fee on Kup teraz and auctions, from Allegro's Lokalnie fee page, checked 13 September 2026 (4.9% in Elektronika, 0 zł on local listings). The page doesn't say whether "item value" includes delivery, so the example charges the fee on the item price.
Percentage vs fixed fees in reverse
Working backwards, every fee costs more than its face value.
- Percentage fee. Each złoty of cost needs 1 ÷ (1 − fee %) of price. At 7.9% that is about 1.09 zł, so a 10 zł repair lifts the floor by 10.86 zł.
- Fixed fee. Enter it like a cost; the calculator grosses it up. At 11%, a 1.35 zł fixed fee needs 1.52 zł of price.
- No seller fee. Break-even is simply your costs. Vinted's PL, UK, FR and DE price lists, checked 13 September 2026, show no seller commission, so a private seller's floor is purchase cost + shipping you pay + extras.
If a marketplace also takes its percentage from postage the buyer pays, add that percentage of the postage to Other costs. To see every preset's fee on one price, use the marketplace fee calculator.
Using break-even as an offer floor
Work out the floor when you list, not when an offer arrives. Then each offer is a quick check:
- Offer below break-even: decline, or counter at your target price. Accepting means paying to sell.
- Offer between break-even and target: accept if the item is past your first planned markdown date, or you need the cash or the space. Otherwise counter.
- Offer at or above target: accept.
A markdown is an offer to every buyer, so the same floor applies. When to lower your price sets the steps; the quick sale price calculator checks a fast-sell price against break-even.
Worked example
- 7.9% fee (Allegro Lokalnie Kup teraz)
- No seller fee

When selling below break-even makes sense
Once bought, the purchase cost is spent whether you sell or not, so a clearance sale has a lower floor. Count only the costs a sale still triggers:
Example: if all 6 zł of the jacket's extras are still to spend, that is 6 ÷ 0.921 = 6.51 zł; if the cleaning is paid, only the mailer counts. In the calculator, set Purchase cost to 0 and Other costs per item to what is still ahead.
- No serious interest through your planned markdowns
- You set the clearance date when you listed, not after a low offer
- The price is above the clearance floor
- A loss on one item isn't hiding a buying mistake you keep repeating
