Resale Profit Calculator

See what a flip really earns after fees, shipping and costs.

Resale profit calculator with sale price, marketplace fee, shipping and net profit fields
Key takeaways
  • Enter the item price you set as the sale price. Fees the buyer pays, such as Vinted's Buyer Protection fee, OLX's Pakiet Ochronny and eBay UK's Buyer Protection fee, stay out of the fee field.
  • Net profit = sale price − (sale price × fee % + fixed fee) − shipping you pay − extras − purchase cost. Margin divides it by the sale price, ROI by the purchase cost.
  • Example: an 80 zł jacket sold for 200 zł with 6 zł of extras leaves 98.20 zł on Allegro Lokalnie at 7.9% and 114 zł on Vinted, where a private seller pays no commission. Matching 114 zł on Lokalnie takes a 217.16 zł price.
  • eBay UK business fees and the eBay.pl preset are charged on the total sale, which includes postage, so enter item price plus buyer-paid postage as the sale price and the label cost as shipping you pay.

A resale profit calculator shows how much of a sale you keep after the marketplace fee, postage and your own costs. Enter the price you set, what you paid, the fee deducted from you as seller, shipping you cover and small extras. You get net profit, margin and ROI in zł, €, £ or $.

On Vinted, on OLX with Pakiet Ochronny and on eBay UK for UK-based private sellers, the buyer pays the protection fee, so typing it in understates your profit.

How to use the resale profit calculator

  1. Pick a symbol in Currency. It changes the label only; nothing is converted.
  2. Choose a Marketplace preset or keep "Custom — enter your own fee". A preset fills Marketplace fee and Fixed fee per order; the note under the form names its source and date.
  3. Fill in Sale price, Purchase cost, Shipping you pay and Packaging, cleaning, other.

If no preset matches your account or category, choose Custom and overwrite both fee fields: switching back does not clear them.

Inputs explained: buy price, sale price, fees, shipping, extras

Field Enter Leave out
Sale price Item price you set or agreed The buyer's checkout total
Purchase cost Item cost plus delivery you paid when buying —
Marketplace fee / Fixed fee What is deducted from you Fees the buyer pays
Shipping you pay Postage that comes out of your money Postage the buyer covered
Packaging, cleaning, other Mailer, cleaning, small repair, a Bump Monthly subscriptions

What belongs in purchase cost is settled in COGS for resellers; costs that never appear on the sale screen are in hidden costs of reselling.

Buyer-paid fees vs seller costs

Only fees deducted from you go in the fee fields. Here is what the official pages stated on 13 September 2026:

Marketplace Fee Who pays Enter
Vinted (UK, PL, FR, DE) Buyer Protection fee: PL "usually 5% + 2.90 zł", DE/FR usually 5% + €0.70, UK "usually 3% to 8% + £0.3 to £0.8" Buyer 0%
Allegro Lokalnie 7.9% of item value on Kup teraz and auctions, 4.9% in Elektronika; local listings 0 zł Seller 7.9 or 4.9
OLX.pl Pakiet Ochronny, amount shown in each listing Buyer Nothing
OLX.pl, Zapłać, jeśli sprzedasz Percentage of the gross item price, delivery excluded; no rate in Annex 6 Seller Custom
eBay UK, UK-based private No final value or regulatory operating fee (except motors) Buyer (Buyer Protection fee) 0%
eBay UK, business, clothing 11.9% + 0.35% regulatory fee on the total sale + £0.40 per order over £10, excl. VAT Seller 12.25% + 0.40
eBay.pl, private 11% of total sale up to 9,990 zł (2% above) + 1.35 zł per order (0.25 zł under 50 zł), incl. VAT Seller 11% + 1.35

eBay UK says its Buyer Protection fee is included in the item price buyers see when browsing, so don't copy the price from the buyer's view of your listing; enter the price you set.

Example: an 80 zł jacket sells on Vinted Poland for 200 zł, with 6 zł of extras; the right answer is 114 zł. Typing 212.90 zł (price plus the usual 5% + 2.90 zł) as the sale price shows 126.90 zł; typing 5% + 2.90 as your fee shows 101.10 zł.

eBay UK business and eBay.pl fees apply to the total sale, which both fee pages say includes postage; the calculator uses Sale price only. Enter item price plus buyer-paid postage there, and the label cost as shipping. Every marketplace's fee on one price is in the marketplace fee calculator.

Reading the results: profit, margin, ROI

The calculator runs exactly this:

fees = sale price × marketplace fee % + fixed fee per order net profit = sale price − fees − shipping you pay − packaging/other − purchase cost profit margin = net profit ÷ sale price ROI on cost = net profit ÷ purchase cost

ROI divides by purchase cost only, so extras lower profit but do not count as investment. A purchase cost of 0 shows "—".

If net profit is negative at the price you expect, change the price or the marketplace. The break-even price calculator finds your lowest acceptable offer; the reselling ROI calculator adds holding time for slow items.

Worked example in zł

Where a 200 zł Allegro Lokalnie sale goes
Sale price200 zł
  • Purchase cost80 zł
  • Allegro Lokalnie fee (7.9%)15.8 zł
  • Packaging and cleaning6 zł
  • Net profit98.2 zł
Example numbers. The 7.9% rate is from Allegro's Lokalnie fee page, checked 13 Sept 2026.Illustrative example, not market data

The 15.80 zł gap is the commission. Keeping 114 zł on Allegro Lokalnie takes a 217.16 zł price (200 ÷ 0.921); the Vinted buyer pays about 212.90 zł plus delivery.

  • Sale price is the price you set, not the checkout total
  • Fee fields hold only what is deducted from you
  • On eBay UK business or eBay.pl, buyer-paid postage is inside the sale price

Limits of the calculation

  • Small orders. eBay UK business charges £0.30 at £10 or less and eBay.pl 0.25 zł under 50 zł; edit the fixed fee.
  • Missing fees. The eBay.pl preset omits the regulatory operating fee, which two official eBay.pl pages state differently (0.43% and 0.35% + VAT). eBay UK shows business fees excluding VAT and doesn't say there what is added; check your invoice. Returns, promotions and currency conversion are not included.
  • Monthly costs belong in the gross vs net profit section of the resale profit guide; to log each sale and profit per marketplace, use the reseller inventory and profit tracker.
  • Tax. Results are before income tax. This is not tax advice; ask a tax adviser.

More worked examples per marketplace are in the complete resale profit guide.

Frequently asked questions

Does the calculator include Vinted's buyer fee?
No, and for a private seller it should not: Vinted's price lists, checked 13 September 2026, show no seller commission. The buyer's fee varies with the item, order value and single item versus bundle, and is shown at checkout. Paid Bumps or Showcase go in the extras field. Re-check after the October 2026 Terms update.
Should I include packaging and petrol?
Yes, if the cost exists because of this sale. A mailer, tape, label and petrol for the trip to the parcel locker go in the extras field. Petrol spent collecting the item can sit in purchase cost instead; count it once. Costs you pay every month regardless of sales belong in a monthly view.
Why is margin different from ROI?
Both divide net profit, but by different numbers: margin by the sale price, ROI by what you paid. Example: 50 zł profit on a 100 zł sale of an item bought for 25 zł is a 50% margin but a 200% ROI. Margin shows how much of a price cut you can absorb; ROI shows what each złoty spent on stock brought back.
Are the fee presets up to date?
Each preset was checked against the marketplace's own fee pages on 13 September 2026, and its note names the source. A preset holds one percentage and one fixed amount, so tiered per-order fees, category exceptions and OLX's pay-if-sold commission are not captured. If your account shows a different fee, choose Custom and use that.
