Final Value Fee: Does It Include Shipping?
The commission charged when an item sells, and what it's calculated on.

- eBay charges its final value fee on the total sale, which eBay UK's business fee page defines as item price plus postage and taxes, so postage the buyer pays raises your fee.
- Allegro.pl calculates commission on item price plus delivery; Allegro Lokalnie charges 7.9% (4.9% in Elektronika) of item value; OLX's pay-if-sold model leaves delivery out of the base (official pages, checked 13 Sept 2026).
- Example: a 200 zł item with 15 zł of buyer-paid postage pays eBay.pl's 11% on 215 zł if postage counts, 23.65 zł instead of 22 zł, before the 1.35 zł per-order fee.
- A threshold can use a different base from the fee: eBay UK's 7% trainers rate starts at an item price of £100 excluding postage, but is then charged on the total including postage.
- Fixed per-order fees weigh most on cheap orders: in this page's example, a 20 zł eBay.pl order pays 12.25% in fees and a 300 zł order 11.45%.
On eBay and allegro.pl, yes: the final value fee is a percentage of what the buyer pays, so the postage you charge is inside the fee base. Allegro Lokalnie charges its sale fee on "item value", and OLX's pay-if-sold commission leaves delivery out by its own terms. The same headline rate can therefore cost you different amounts on the same sale.
Below: the fee formula, what each marketplace charges on (official pages checked 13 September 2026), tiers, per-order fees, and how to estimate the fee before you list.
What a final value fee is
"Final value fee" is eBay's name for the commission taken when an item sells. Allegro calls it prowizja (commission) and Lokalnie a sale fee. The arithmetic is the same everywhere:
A listing fee is due whether or not the item sells. That is the insertion fee, with its free allowances and the duplicate-listing trap. A buyer-paid fee, such as eBay UK's Buyer Protection fee, is added to the buyer's price and never leaves your payout; who pays the buyer protection fee covers those.
Does final value fee include shipping? The base by marketplace
eBay UK's business fee page charges the rate on "the total amount of the sale (which includes the item price, postage, and any applicable taxes)". eBay.de's business page applies it to the total including shipping and VAT, and eBay.com's page also counts handling and sales tax. Allegro's fee calculator says commission is worked out on item price plus delivery cost.
| Delivery in the fee base | Fixed fee per order | |
|---|---|---|
| eBay UK, business | Yesitem + postage + taxes | Yes£0.30 or £0.40 |
| eBay.de, business | Yesincl. shipping and VAT | Yes€0.35 or €0.45 |
| eBay.pl, private | Partly"total sale", not defined on the page | Yes0.25 zł or 1.35 zł |
| Allegro.pl | Yesitem price + delivery | Not stated |
| Allegro Lokalnie | Nocharged on "item value" | Not stated |
| OLX Zapłać, jeśli sprzedasz | Nodelivery and service fees excluded | Partly"possibly" a fixed element |
There are exceptions. On eBay UK, trainers sold through Authenticity Guarantee pay no final value fee on postage. eBay.pl's private-seller page charges 11% of the "total sale" without defining it, so assume postage counts until your invoice shows otherwise.
Worked examples: eBay, Allegro, Allegro Lokalnie
Example: one jacket at 200 zł (£40 on eBay UK) with 15 zł (£4) of postage paid by the buyer.
| Marketplace | Fee base | Example fee |
|---|---|---|
| eBay UK, business, clothes | £44 total sale | 11.9% £5.24 + £0.40 per order + 0.35% regulatory fee £0.15 = £5.79 |
| eBay.pl, private | 215 zł, assuming postage counts | 11% 23.65 zł + 1.35 zł = 25.00 zł, plus the 0.43% regulatory fee 0.92 zł |
| Allegro.pl, Moda | 215 zł | 11.5% of 110 zł + 7.5% of 105 zł = about 20.53 zł (net) |
| Allegro Lokalnie, Kup teraz | 200 zł item value | 7.9% = 15.80 zł |
The Allegro row is an assumption on top of Allegro's own example, which uses the item price alone and a 110 zł threshold that the same page also gives as 115 zł. Allegro fees by category covers that conflict. eBay.pl's regulatory fee also appears as 0.35% plus VAT on its seller portal.
Decision rule: on eBay, moving postage into the item price doesn't change the fee, because both sit in the total sale. On Lokalnie it works the other way: building delivery into the price puts it into the base charged at 7.9%.
Tiered and threshold fees
Some rates change above a price, and the threshold doesn't always use the same base as the fee:
- eBay UK bags: 12.9% on the part of the total sale up to £800, 7% only on the part above.
- eBay UK trainers: 7% once the item price, excluding postage, reaches £100, and then 7% applies to the whole total including postage. Example: £99 trainers with £4 postage pay 11.9% of £103 = £12.26; at £100 they pay 7% of £104 = £7.28, both before the per-order fee.
- eBay.pl: 2% on the part of the total sale above 9,990 zł.
- Allegro Moda: 11.5% up to the threshold, 7.5% above it.
Decision rule: if your price sits just under a threshold, work out the fee on both sides before listing. Every category rate is in eBay UK fees.
Per-order fixed fees
| Marketplace | Fixed fee per order |
|---|---|
| eBay UK, business | £0.30 on orders of £10 or less, £0.40 above |
| eBay.de, business | €0.35, or €0.45 over €10 |
| eBay.pl, private | 0.25 zł under 50 zł, 1.35 zł otherwise |
A fixed fee costs relatively more on a cheap order. Example: a 20 zł eBay.pl order pays 2.20 zł + 0.25 zł = 2.45 zł, or 12.25%; a 300 zł order pays 34.35 zł, or 11.45%. eBay.pl's page doesn't say whether postage counts toward 50 zł; eBay Poland fees shows the pricing trap at that line.
Estimating the fee before you list
The calculator works out total fees = sale price × percentage fee + fixed fee per order, then you receive = sale price − total fees − shipping you pay, and effective fee rate = total fees ÷ sale price. It charges the percentage on whatever you type in Sale price, so enter the fee base there:
- Sale price: item price plus buyer-paid postage on eBay and allegro.pl; item price alone on Allegro Lokalnie.
- Percentage fee: your category rate. For a tiered fee, enter the effective rate at that price (Allegro's Moda example: 19.40 ÷ 200 = 9.7%).
- Fixed fee per order: the band your order falls in.
- Shipping you pay: the label you buy.
On eBay the effective rate is measured against the total sale, not the item price, so divide the fees by the item price before comparing it with Lokalnie. Presets for Lokalnie and eBay are in the marketplace fee calculator, and Allegro Lokalnie fees explains when that fee is actually charged.
The fee is fixed by the marketplace; the sale price is your guess. On Vinted, OLX and Allegro Lokalnie, reva's Scout estimates a find's fair value from comparable items that left the market, which gives you a price to test, not a promise. The fee then becomes one line in how to calculate reselling profit.
