eBay Germany (eBay.de) Fees for Resellers

What private and business sellers pay on eBay.de, including the 2026 used-goods rate.

Key takeaways
  • EEA-resident private sellers, including people living in Poland, pay no selling fee on eBay.de when the item is delivered in Germany; delivery elsewhere costs 5% of the total.
  • Private accounts get 320 free listings a month, then €0.50 each; automatic relists and renewals don't use the allowance.
  • Business sellers pay a category rate on the total including shipping and VAT, plus €0.35 or €0.45 per order and, without a shop, €0.35 per fixed-price listing.
  • Since 1 July 2026, selected categories charge one flat rate for new items and 5% for used or refurbished ones; clothing, sneakers, watches and trading cards were not in that change.

eBay Germany fees depend first on your account type. As a private seller resident in the European Economic Area, which includes Poland, you pay no selling fee on eBay.de when the item is delivered in Germany, and 5% when it goes anywhere else. Business sellers pay a category rate plus a per-order fee, and since 1 July 2026 many categories charge a flat rate for new items and 5% for used ones.

Everything below comes from eBay.de's German help pages and its June 2026 seller news, checked on 13 September 2026. Fees change, so re-check the sources before a close call. How fees fit into a full margin calculation is in how to calculate reselling profit. eBay.de is also one channel among several in Germany: the Germany reselling guide sets it beside Kleinanzeigen and Vinted DE, whose fee models differ.

Private sellers: free domestic selling and who qualifies

eBay.de's private-seller page says selling "ist innerhalb Deutschlands kostenlos": free within Germany. eBay Inc.'s press release dates the rule from 1 March 2023; before that, private sellers paid 11% plus up to €0.35. A sale is free only when all three conditions hold:

  • You sell from a private account, not a business (gewerblich) account
  • You are resident in a country on eBay.de's EEA list, which includes Germany and Poland
  • The item is listed on ebay.de and delivered to an address in Germany

Private sellers resident outside the EEA, the UK for example, pay 11% of the sale up to €1,990 and 2% above, plus €0.05 on orders under €10 and €0.35 on the rest.

Account type is your choice on eBay, but whether buying to resell makes you a business in law is a tax and legal question. This is general information, not tax advice: ask an adviser in your country. Platform reporting is covered in DAC7 for resellers.

Listing allowances and extra auctions

Free selling and free listing are separate. On the private page:

Allowance Private seller on eBay.de
Free listings per month 320, then €0.50 each
Extra free auctions 2,500 a month at a €1.00 start price, not 1- or 3-day durations; selling limits apply
Automatic relists and Good 'Til Cancelled renewals No fee; don't count against the 320

Upgrades cost extra, for example Galerie Plus €0.75 and a subtitle €0.50; up to 24 photos are free.

Example: you list 400 fixed-price items in a month. The 80 beyond the allowance cost €40, whether or not anything sells.

Decision rule: near 320, let unsold items renew automatically instead of ending and relisting by hand, because manual relists use the allowance.

Fees when a private sale ships outside Germany

When an item listed on ebay.de is delivered outside Germany, private sellers pay an international fee of 5% of the total transaction. eBay.de also lists a 3% currency conversion charge.

The fee follows the delivery address. For a seller in Poland, a buyer in Germany means no selling fee and a buyer in Austria means 5%, though both parcels leave Poland. The page doesn't mention the dispatch country, so check the fee line on your first cross-border invoice.

Decision rule: if most buyers are outside Germany, compare the 5% before you list. eBay.pl charges private sellers 11% up to 9,990 zł, as eBay Poland fees sets out, and eBay vs Allegro weighs the Polish options.

business fee = category rate × (item price + shipping + VAT) + €0.35 per order (€0.45 if over €10)

Current rates without a shop:

Category Rate
Kleidung & Accessoires 12% up to €990, 3% above
Sneakers from €100 / under €100 7% up to €990, 3% above / 12%
Uhren & Schmuck 16% up to €990, 3% above
Tech devices, e.g. computers, phones 7%; 5% used or refurbished
Tech accessories 12%; 5% used or refurbished
General categories, e.g. Sport, Baby, Möbel & Wohnen 14%; 5% used or refurbished

Not every general category is 14%: the June 2026 news sets Garten & Terrasse and Heimwerker at 13% and Musikinstrumente at 11% for new items. For sneakers, where to sell sneakers in Europe compares the €100 line with other platforms.

Sellers rated "Unterdurchschnittlich" (below average) pay a separate rate, which since 1 July 2026 rises one more percentage point after four consecutive months at that status. Unlike eBay UK business fees, which add a 0.35% regulatory operating fee, the German business page doesn't mention one.

The July 2026 change: flat rates and 5% for used items

On 1 July 2026 eBay.de dropped the tiers in selected categories. Until 30 June, sellers without a shop paid 6.5% on devices, 11% on accessories and 12% in general categories such as Sport, each up to €990 and 3% above. Now new items pay the flat rates in the table above, and items listed as "Neu: Sonstige", refurbished, "Vom Verkäufer generalüberholt" or "Gebraucht" pay 5%.

Business fee on a €300 used phone, before and after 1 July 2026
Until 30 June 2026 (6.5%)€19.5
From 1 July, listed as new (7%)€21
From 1 July, listed as used (5%)€15
Example: a €300 total sale in Handys & Kommunikation, seller without a shop. Variable fee only; per-order and listing fees come on top.Illustrative example, not market data

Decision rule: the rate follows the condition field, so the condition must be true. A new item listed as used to get 5% invites not-as-described claims.

Shops and international fees

Shop Monthly Free fixed-price listings
Basis €39.95 400, then €0.10
Top €79.95 2,500, then €0.05
Premium €299.95 Unlimited
Platin €4,999.95 Unlimited, plus 10% off the final value fee

Example: without a shop, 115 fixed-price listings cost €40.25, more than Basis. One side effect: with a shop, the 16% band for Uhren & Schmuck ends at €500, not €990.

The business international fee, for sellers registered in Germany not using eBay International Shipping, is free to the eurozone and Sweden. We couldn't match the other regional rates to their regions reliably, so check them on the business page.

Worked examples: eBay Germany fees on three sales

All three are examples with round numbers; business fees exclude VAT.

Example 2 shows who the July change hurts: expensive new items lost the 3% band above €990. Example 3 is the cost of switching accounts on a cheap item.

The eBay.de private preset in the marketplace fee calculator is 0% + €0 and leaves out the 5% and listing fees; for business sales, choose Custom and enter your category rate and €0.45.

Frequently asked questions

Is eBay.de free for private sellers?
Selling is free, listing only up to a limit. EEA-resident private sellers pay no selling fee when an item listed on ebay.de is delivered in Germany, a rule in force since 1 March 2023. Listings beyond 320 a month still cost €0.50 each, and delivery outside Germany adds 5%. Private sellers resident outside the EEA pay 11% plus a fixed amount per order.
Can someone living in Poland sell for free on eBay.de?
Yes, from a private account: Poland is on the EEA list on eBay.de's private-seller fee page. The free rule covers delivery within Germany, so a buyer in Munich costs nothing and a buyer in Vienna or Kraków costs 5% of the total. Whether regular reselling legally needs a business account is a question for a Polish tax adviser.
What is the eBay.de fee on used electronics for businesses?
Since 1 July 2026, devices such as computers, phones, consoles and TVs pay 5% of the total sale when listed as used, refurbished or "Neu: Sonstige", and 7% when new. Accessories such as cables are 5% used and 12% new. Add €0.35 per order (€0.45 over €10) and, without a shop, €0.35 per fixed-price listing. Fees exclude VAT.
Is there a buyer fee on eBay.de?
eBay.de's private and business fee pages, and eBay's 2023 announcement of free private selling, don't mention a buyer-paid protection fee, unlike eBay UK, where buyers pay one on purchases from UK private sellers. That is an absence on the pages we read, not a statement from eBay, so check the checkout total before promising a buyer an all-in price.
