eBay vs Allegro for Sellers in Poland

eBay.pl fees, eBay.de's rule for EEA private sellers and Allegro commissions, compared on official pages.

A parcel leaving Poland with three fee routes marked: eBay.pl commission, free eBay.de selling to German buyers and allegro.pl category commission
Key takeaways
  • Private sellers on eBay.pl pay 11% of the total sale up to 9,990 zł (2% above), plus 0.25 zł or 1.35 zł per order and a regulatory fee that two eBay.pl pages state differently.
  • An EEA resident, including someone living in Poland, pays no selling fee from a private eBay.de account when the item is delivered in Germany, and 5% when it goes anywhere else.
  • allegro.pl charges a net commission by category on item price plus delivery, so compare it with eBay.pl's VAT-inclusive 11% only after checking your invoice.
  • In this page's 2,000 zł electronics example, eBay.pl's fees come to 229.95 zł; Allegro's Elektronika range of 2.5–8% net works out at 50–160 zł.
  • Only a regular Allegro account can sell on Allegro Lokalnie, and official pages don't confirm selling limits for regular accounts on allegro.pl.

eBay vs Allegro for a seller in Poland is decided by where your buyer lives, what you sell and which account you use. For buyers in Poland, eBay.pl charges private sellers 11% of the total sale plus a per-order fee. allegro.pl charges a category commission quoted net, from 2.5–8% in Elektronika to up to 11.5% in Moda. The one route that costs nothing is eBay.de: if you live in the EEA, a private account pays no selling fee when the item is delivered in Germany.

Fees come from official eBay and Allegro pages read on 13 September 2026; we haven't tested either app. International postage wasn't part of our research, so price your own label.

Decision rule: don't set 11% against 11.5% and stop there. eBay.pl says its amounts include Polish VAT, while Allegro quotes net rates, so check what each invoice actually charges you.

eBay.pl private seller fees

A private sale on eBay.pl has three parts, per its help page:

eBay.pl fees = total sale × 11% (2% on the part above 9,990 zł) + 0.25 zł (order under 50 zł) or 1.35 zł + total sale × 0.43%

The 0.43% comes from the help page. eBay.pl's Strefa Sprzedawcy page gives 0.35% plus VAT, introduced on 8 April 2024. Use the higher figure until your invoice shows which one applies.

Listing is free for 150 listings a month, then 1.50 zł each. The 50 zł trap, Mały sklep maths and a full example are in eBay Poland fees for private sellers.

eBay.de: free private selling for EEA residents, 5% outside Germany

eBay.de's private-seller page says selling "ist innerhalb Deutschlands kostenlos", free within Germany, for private sellers resident in the EEA. Poland is on its list. eBay Inc.'s press release dates the rule from 1 March 2023.

The fee follows the delivery address, not where you post from. A private seller in Poland pays €0 when the buyer is in Germany. When the buyer is in Austria, France or Poland, the fee is 5% of the total transaction. Private accounts get 320 free listings a month, then €0.50 each.

Decision rule: if your likely buyers for an item are in Germany, list it on eBay.de; if they're in Poland, eBay.de still costs you 5%.

Whether regular reselling from a private account makes you a business in law is a question for a doradca podatkowy (tax adviser); this is general information, not tax advice. The conditions are in eBay Germany fees.

Allegro and Allegro Lokalnie: account types and commissions

Listing on allegro.pl is free in general. Allegro's fee calculator says commission is charged on item price plus delivery, at a net rate set by subcategory; every department's range is in Allegro fees by category.

Accounts matter as much as rates:

  • Regular account: for private individuals. Official pages don't confirm a selling limit on allegro.pl.
  • Business account: for entrepreneurs. It can buy on Allegro Lokalnie but not sell there.
  • Allegro Lokalnie: for regular accounts only. It charges 7.9% of item value on Kup teraz and auctions, 4.9% in Elektronika and 0 zł on local listings.

Returns and protection on the two Allegro sites are compared in Allegro vs Allegro Lokalnie.

Both eBay.pl and eBay.de list a 3% currency conversion charge. Our research didn't capture exactly when it's triggered, so look for it on your first euro payout from eBay.de.

Worked example: one item on eBay.pl, eBay.de and Allegro

Say you sell a used jacket for 200 zł, with postage built into the price. For eBay.de, say €50: an example price, not a conversion.

eBay.pl, private: 200 × 11% + 1.35 + 200 × 0.43% = 24.21 zł (VAT included) allegro.pl, Moda: 11.5% × 110 + 7.5% × 90 = 19.40 zł (net) Allegro Lokalnie: 200 × 7.9% = 15.80 zł (Kup teraz, regular account) eBay.de, private, EEA: €0 to a buyer in Germany; 5% × €50 = €2.50 anywhere else

The allegro.pl line is Allegro's own Moda example. The same price list also names a threshold "ze 115 zł", which would make it 19.60 zł, so price with the higher figure. On this jacket eBay.pl costs 4.81 zł more, before VAT on Allegro's invoice is known.

Decision rule: for electronics, eBay.pl's 11% sits above the top of Allegro's Elektronika range; for fashion around 200 zł, the gap is a few złoty. For Vinted, OLX and Lokalnie side by side, see marketplace fees in Poland.

Frequently asked questions

Is eBay or Allegro better for selling from Poland?
Neither wins on every item. For buyers in Poland, a private eBay.pl sale costs 11% of the total plus a per-order fee, while allegro.pl charges a net category commission that can be lower, for example 2.5–8% in Elektronika. For buyers in Germany, a private eBay.de account costs nothing if you live in the EEA. Run your own item, price and buyer location through both fee pages.
What does eBay charge for international sales?
It depends on the eBay site. On eBay.de a private seller pays 5% of the total when the item is delivered outside Germany, Poland included. On eBay.pl a Polish-registered private seller pays an extra fee outside the eurozone and Sweden: we captured 1.97% for the rest of Europe, 1.48% for the US and Canada and 4.06% elsewhere. Both sites also list a 3% currency conversion charge.
Can I sell the same item on eBay and Allegro at once?
The pages we read contain no rule against listing an item on another marketplace too. On eBay itself, the duplicate listings policy (US version) bans more than one fixed-price listing of an identical item at once from the same seller. End the other copy as soon as one sells. eBay's User Agreement also bans bots and automated tools without its permission, so check how any crosslisting tool connects.
