Wallapop Fees for Sellers, Explained

Wallapop puts most costs on the buyer. Here is what that means for your price and your payout.

Key takeaways
  • Wallapop's own shipping terms put the shipping cost and the Wallapop Protection fee on the buyer; a seller only pays if they request home pickup, and that cost is deducted before the offer is confirmed.
  • Neither fee has a published formula or table — both are shown at checkout on a per-item basis, so treat any number you see online as unverified until the app shows it for your own listing.
  • Shipped items are covered from €1 to €2,500, between Spain, Italy and Portugal, with a handful of territories excluded.
  • Claim windows are tight and different for each problem: 48 hours for a broken package, one month for non-receipt, and disputes can run up to 29 days.
  • Because the buyer sees the total (item price plus shipping plus Protection fee), your asking price is what decides whether your listing looks competitive next to one on Vinted or a local classifieds site.

Wallapop does not charge private sellers a commission on a normal sale. The buyer pays the shipping cost and a separate "Wallapop Protection" fee that depends on the item's price; you only pay if you ask for home pickup instead of shipping, and that cost comes out of your payout before you accept. Neither fee is published as a fixed table — both show at checkout.

Below: what the buyer's checkout actually includes, when a seller pays instead, how to price a listing when the fee sits on the buyer's side, and the shipping limits and claim windows from Wallapop's own terms. This sits inside the wider resale profit guide on how fees change your take-home number across marketplaces. Figures come from Wallapop's shipping-service terms (last reviewed 24 July 2026) and its Spanish seller shipping page, both checked 13 September 2026.

Wallapop fees at a glance

No commission line for a private seller appears on the pages Wallapop publishes for sellers — the buyer carries both charges below.

What the buyer pays

Wallapop's shipping-service terms describe two separate charges added at the buyer's checkout: the shipping cost itself, priced by the parcel's weight and the service chosen, and the Wallapop Protection fee, which the terms say "depends on the amount of the product." No formula or fee table for either charge is published in the terms we read — the app shows the total before the buyer confirms.

When the seller pays

The seller side of a Wallapop sale is short: you pay nothing to ship a sold item through the app's own flow. Wallapop's Spanish seller shipping page states it plainly — shipping is free for you — and your payment is released to your in-app wallet once the buyer confirms the item arrived as described.

The one seller-side cost is home pickup: if you request a courier collection instead of dropping the parcel off yourself, that pickup cost is deducted from your payout, and the terms say it is shown to you before you accept the sale. If the number shown doesn't work for you, you can still choose standard shipping instead.

How to price with fees on the buyer's side

Because both the shipping cost and the Protection fee sit on top of your asking price, the buyer compares a total, not your listed number. Say you list a used espresso machine at €80. The buyer's checkout might show something like €80 (item) + shipping by weight + a Protection fee shown at checkout — the exact Protection amount is not something Wallapop publishes, so treat any total you see quoted elsewhere as an example, not a rate you can rely on.

The practical move is to price a little below what you'd ask on a fee-free local sale, since the buyer's total always lands higher than your number, and to say so plainly in the listing if you're open to a lower offer for local pickup instead. Run the same item through the marketplace fee calculator using Wallapop's confirmed rules — buyer pays shipping and Protection, seller pays only for requested pickup — to see how your net payout compares with listing the same item elsewhere.

Coverage runs between Spain, Italy and Portugal, with a handful of territorial exclusions named in the terms (the Canary Islands, Ceuta, Melilla, Madeira and the Azores). An item priced above €2,500 falls outside the shipped-purchase terms altogether — for something that expensive, Wallapop's in-app shipping flow is not the mechanism the terms describe.

Claims, disputes and your payout

The clock starts the moment a parcel is marked delivered. From there:

  • Broken on arrival: report within 48 hours of the delivery being marked complete
  • Item never arrived: report within one month
  • Either claim can take Wallapop up to 29 days to resolve
  • Payout to your wallet happens once the buyer confirms the item is as described

That gap between "delivered" and "payout confirmed" matters for cash flow: a sale that looks final on the tracking page can still sit open for weeks if the buyer files a claim inside the window. If you resell full-time across several platforms, that is one more reason a single spreadsheet row marked "sold" understates how long the money is actually tied up.

If you resell mainly in Poland and are only checking Wallapop as an option for southern Europe, the fee comparison that matters day to day is Vinted vs Wallapop.

For Poland-specific commissions, see Vinted fees or, for the German market, Kleinanzeigen fees.

The general term this article uses for Wallapop's Protection charge is explained on its own in what a buyer protection fee is.

Frequently asked questions

Does Wallapop charge sellers a fee?
Not for a normal sale. Wallapop's own shipping page for sellers says shipping is free for you, and the terms put the shipping cost and the Wallapop Protection fee on the buyer's side. The only cost that lands on a seller is home pickup, and only if you request it — that cost is deducted from your payout before you accept the offer.
Who pays shipping on Wallapop?
The buyer, in the normal in-app checkout flow. Wallapop's shipping terms say the buyer pays the shipping cost, which depends on weight and service type, plus the separate Wallapop Protection fee. A seller pays only when they choose home pickup instead of a shipped parcel; that fee is shown and deducted before the sale is confirmed.
How long does a Wallapop buyer have to report a problem?
Under Wallapop's shipping-service terms, a broken package must be reported within 48 hours of the delivery being marked complete, and non-receipt or a lost parcel within one month. From there, Wallapop's own dispute process can take up to 29 days to resolve, so a payout tied to a shipped order is not final on the delivery date alone.
