Vinted vs Wallapop for Sellers in Spain and Southern Europe

Both put the fee on the buyer. The differences are in shipping, claims, payout and what buyers go there for.

Key takeaways
  • Vinted's ES/IT price lists put the buyer's fee at usually 5% + €0.70; sellers pay 0% on a standard sale.
  • Wallapop's buyer pays shipping plus a Protection fee that depends on the product's amount — no formula is published, so the checkout screen is the only honest number.
  • Wallapop covers shipped items worth €1–€2,500 across Spain, Italy and Portugal (with some territories excluded); Vinted's shipping help names no such ceiling.
  • Claim windows differ: Wallapop gives 48 hours for a broken parcel and up to a month for non-receipt; Vinted's UK help gives the buyer 2 days after delivery to complete the order or open a claim.
  • Vinted's new Terms take effect 5 October 2026 in Germany and France and 8 October 2026 in the UK, US and Poland — re-check the ES/IT pricelists again after that date.

For clothes and accessories in Spain, Italy or Portugal, Vinted usually keeps more of the sale for you: its price list names no seller commission and the buyer's fee is a published formula. For general second-hand goods — furniture, electronics, local pickup deals — Wallapop is often the better fit, and its shipping service covers items worth up to €2,500 across the three countries. Both platforms make the buyer pay the fee; the difference is how clearly each one publishes the number.

This page puts fees, shipping cover, claim windows and payout timing side by side, using Vinted's Spanish and Italian price lists and Wallapop's own shipping terms, both read on 13 September 2026. It's one country-pair inside the wider reselling guide, which covers choosing a marketplace at all.

Fees: what the buyer pays and what the seller keeps

Vinted's Spanish price list says "normalmente el 5% + 0,70€" and the Italian one says "di solito il 5% + 0,70€" (both pages dated 08-09-2025, read 13 September 2026): the buyer's fee is usually 5% of the item price plus €0.70, and neither price list names a seller commission on a standard sale. Wallapop puts the fee on the buyer too, but without a formula — its shipping terms say the buyer pays shipping "plus a Wallapop Protection fee that depends on the amount of the product," with no percentage or fixed rate published. The seller only pays on Wallapop if they request home pickup, and that cost is deducted from the payout before it's confirmed.

Vinted has also announced new Terms that take effect 5 October 2026 in Germany and France and 8 October 2026 in the UK, US and Poland; press reports say the buyer charge is being renamed the "Vinted fee" in those markets. Neither price list we read names a change date for Spain or Italy, so check the ES/IT pricelists again after October to see whether the same update reaches them.

Shipping: coverage, value limits and who pays

Wallapop's shipping terms cover shipped purchases worth €1 to €2,500, across Spain, Italy and Portugal, with the Canary Islands, Ceuta, Melilla, Madeira and Azores excluded. The buyer pays the shipping cost by weight and service type, on top of the Protection fee; the seller's own shipping page says plainly "shipping is free for you" unless a pickup is requested. Vinted's confirmed rule, on its UK, German, French and Polish help pages, is that the seller gets a prepaid label and 5 business days to ship, or the order cancels automatically — the Spanish and Italian help pages weren't opened for this comparison, so treat the 5-day window as Vinted's general rule rather than an ES/IT-specific quote. Vinted's shipping help names no item-value ceiling at all.

Claims and disputes: windows on each app

Wallapop's terms name three separate clocks: 48 hours from "Delivered" for a broken package, one month for non-receipt or loss, and up to 29 days for a dispute to resolve. Vinted's UK help page describes one window instead: the buyer has 2 days after delivery to complete the order or open a claim, and missing that window (or pressing "Everything is OK") completes the order and pays the seller. Neither app's pages we read set a hard number of days for how long the whole claim process can run beyond those windows.

Getting paid

On Vinted, the balance shows as "Pending balance" until the order completes; per the UK help page, once it does, "you'll receive your payment within 2 days." On Wallapop, the seller's own shipping page says payment lands in the in-app wallet as soon as the buyer confirms everything is fine — there's no separate waiting period layered on top of that confirmation.

From sale to payout: Vinted vs Wallapop
  1. Vinted: sale confirmed

seller ships with a prepaid label within 5 business days

  2. Vinted: delivery

buyer has 2 days to complete the order or open a claim

  3. Vinted: order completes

balance moves from pending to available, paid within 2 days

  4. Wallapop: sale confirmed

seller ships; buyer already paid shipping and the Protection fee

  5. Wallapop: delivery

    buyer reviews the item

  6. Wallapop: buyer confirms

payment lands in the seller's in-app wallet

Selling on both

If you list the same item on Vinted and on Wallapop, take the other listing down the moment it sells on one — neither platform's pages we read give a grace period for that, and an unavailable item sold twice is a support conversation neither app wants. Adapt the copy rather than duplicating it: Wallapop's audience reads a local-pickup listing differently from a parcel-shipped one, and the fee lines you quote should match the app the reader is on. For the broader mechanics of selling the same item on more than one marketplace without a double sale, see selling across borders on Vinted.

Which items suit which app

Fashion goes to Vinted; general second-hand goods and local pickup fit Wallapop's model.

Vinted's own catalogue and buyer fee are built around fashion — clothes, shoes, accessories — while Wallapop reads as a general second-hand marketplace: its shipping terms cover any shipped product up to €2,500, and its home-pickup option suits anything too bulky or local to post. That's a difference in positioning stated on each platform's own pages, not a claim about how many items sell on either one. A folded denim jacket belongs on Vinted; a used electric scooter or a vintage table fan, sold for local pickup, fits Wallapop's model better. Items that could go either way — small electronics, accessories — are worth listing on the platform whose fee and shipping rule you understand well enough to price around.

  • Clothes, shoes, bags, accessories: list on Vinted first
  • Furniture, large electronics, anything a courier would charge a lot to move: list on Wallapop with home pickup as an option
  • Small electronics and general items: quote your own fee and shipping numbers for both apps before you choose
  • Either way: photograph the item once and adapt the description's opening line to the app's audience, rather than writing two listings from scratch

Frequently asked questions

Is Vinted or Wallapop better for selling clothes in Spain?
For clothes and accessories, Vinted usually works out better: its Spanish price list names no seller commission, so the price you set is the price you keep, and the buyer's fee (usually 5% + €0.70) is a published formula. Wallapop is a general second-hand marketplace, not a fashion platform, so its listing rules and audience are built around home goods and local deals rather than garments.
Who pays the fees on Wallapop and on Vinted?
On both apps the buyer carries the fee. Vinted's Spanish and Italian price lists put it at usually 5% of the item price plus €0.70, and sellers pay nothing on a standard sale. Wallapop makes the buyer pay shipping plus a Wallapop Protection fee that depends on the product's amount, with no formula published; the seller only pays for home pickup, deducted from the payout.
Which app pays sellers faster, Vinted or Wallapop?
Neither app's own pages give a fixed number of days, so speed depends on the buyer. Vinted's balance stays pending until the buyer confirms or the 2-day window after delivery passes, then the seller is paid. Wallapop releases the sale amount to the seller's in-app wallet as soon as the buyer confirms the item is fine, with no separate waiting period after that.
Does reva work with Wallapop?
No. reva reads Vinted, OLX and Allegro Lokalnie, with a Poland focus — Wallapop isn't one of the marketplaces it scans today. If you sell in Spain, Italy or Portugal on Wallapop, that side of your business stays outside reva's Scout and Buy modules for now; the Vinted side of a cross-listed item is where reva's estimates can help.
