Shipping Large Items in Poland: Furniture, Bikes and Bulky Goods
Measure first, then pick between local pickup, an oversized parcel and a transport service, knowing what protection you keep or lose.

- Measure packed items first—Orlen Paczka class L maxes out at 41 × 38 × 60 cm and 20 kg, making most furniture too large for parcel networks.
- Local pickup is the practical default for furniture: Allegro Lokalnie local listings are free, and OLX limits furniture to 1 free listing per 60 days for private sellers.
- If offering delivery, agree on price and terms in writing—outside OLX Przesyłka there's no Pakiet Ochronny buyer protection.
- Disassemble furniture when possible: wrap screws in a labelled bag, protect legs and corners, and photograph everything before handover.
Selling a wardrobe, a dining table, or a bike online in Poland means facing a logistics problem early: most furniture doesn't fit in parcel lockers. This page covers your options from parcel networks to local pickup, and how to present shipping in your listing.
This page is part of the inventory management guide — your pillar for managing resale stock efficiently.
Does it fit in a parcel network?
Measure your packed item before you list it. Parcel networks have strict size limits, and exceeding them means you either pay premium courier rates or arrange pickup.
The largest standard class most networks accept is Orlen Paczka class L: 41 × 38 × 60 cm with a 20 kg weight limit. Classes S and M share the same 38 × 60 cm footprint but are smaller in depth. InPost Paczkomat is even tighter—check the dimensions before choosing that option. For a detailed comparison of parcel sizes, see our InPost vs Orlen Paczka guide.
If your item fits, great—you can list it as shippable and use a standard parcel service. If it doesn't, move to the next option.

Local pickup: the practical default
For furniture, bikes, and most bulky goods, local pickup is the safest and most common choice. The buyer comes to you, avoids shipping costs entirely, and inspects the item before paying.
On Allegro Lokalnie, local listings (ogłoszenia lokalne) have a 0 zł sale fee—you pay nothing to publish and sell. This makes Allegro Lokalnie the cheapest place for furniture you're willing to deliver only by hand. For a side-by-side comparison of platforms, see Allegro Lokalnie vs OLX.
On OLX, private users get 1 free Dom i Ogród furniture listing per 60 days (from the January 2026 limits). If you're reselling furniture regularly, you'll hit this limit fast. Offering pickup-only listings helps you stay within the free limit for items where shipping genuinely doesn't make sense.
When a stranger comes to collect from your home, keep it practical: meet in a public place if possible, or let a friend know about the meeting. For a single practical sentence on safety—trust your instincts and don't let buyers into your home if something feels off.

Couriers for oversized parcels
If the item won't fit in any parcel network and you want to ship it, you need a courier that handles non-standard parcels. The method is straightforward: get a quote based on the actual dimensions and weight, then check what the courier accepts as a non-standard parcel.
Each courier has its own rules and price calculator. Enter the packed dimensions (length + width + height) and weight on the courier's website to get a real quote. Prices vary significantly by route and service level, so comparing 2–3 options before listing is worth it.
No company names with prices—courier rates change often, so ask for a current quote instead of relying on a figure from a web page.
Transport services for furniture
For very large items—sofas, full wardrobes, dining sets—a dedicated transport service may be the answer. These are typically individual drivers or small companies that handle furniture delivery.
When arranging transport, get the price in writing before confirming. Agree on who carries items up or down stairs—this can add to the cost. Photograph the item at handover with the buyer present, so both sides have a record of the condition before the item leaves your hands.
Market prices move, so treat any quote you receive as specific to your item, route and date.
Disassembly and packing
If the item can be taken apart, disassembly dramatically improves your shipping options. A dining table that won't fit in any parcel becomes two boxes and a set of legs. For bikes, see our bike resale guide for specific disassembly tips.
Packing furniture well matters:
- Bag and label screws — put all fasteners in a clear zip bag, tape it to the underside of the item or include it in the box, and label it clearly.
- Wrap legs and corners — use moving blankets or bubble wrap on wooden legs and exposed corners to prevent damage.
- Protect glass separately — any glass shelves or doors need their own padding and a "FRAGILE" label. For fragile items, see our packing fragile items guide.
Who pays and how to say it in the listing
The most common approach is to state it plainly in your listing. Two clear options work well:
- "Pickup only" — the buyer arranges and pays for their own transport.
- "Delivery at buyer's cost, quote on request" — you arrange shipping but the buyer pays, typically added to the final price.
For example, say you want to sell a dining table you bought for 250 zł. You might list it at 600 zł delivered within 50 km, or 450 zł for buyer-arranged pickup. The difference covers your transport costs.
- Transport cost150 zł
- Packaging (strap, wrap)20 zł
- Your cost250 zł
- Profit180 zł
Important: When you arrange delivery outside of OLX's Przesyłka system, the Pakiet Ochronny doesn't apply. If the deal happens off-platform or you use a different delivery method, there's no buyer protection from OLX. Get any agreement about payment and delivery in writing—even a quick message exchange confirms the terms.

Decision checklist
- Measure the packed item: does it fit within 41×38×60 cm and 20 kg?
- If it fits, use a parcel network (Orlen Paczka or InPost if within limits)
- If it doesn't fit, can you disassemble or flat-pack it?
- If disassembly isn't possible, can the buyer pick it up locally?
- If the buyer is far away: get a courier or transport quote, agree in writing who pays
- State pickup-only or delivery terms clearly in your listing
- Photograph the item at handover, bag and label all hardware
