Fee Refunds on Cancelled and Returned Orders

Allegro Lokalnie

Allegro Lokalnie charges no listing fee. For Kup teraz (Buy Now) and auction listings, the platform takes 7.9% of the item value (4.9% for electronics). The fee is charged only in two situations: when the buyer pays within 72 hours, or when the buyer fills in the delivery form for cash-on-delivery or personal pickup.

This conditional fee structure is the key to refunds. When a buyer cancels before paying or filling the form, the fee never charges in the first place. If the buyer has already paid and you process a refund through Allegro, the fee is refunded to you — it goes back through the same payment channel. The refund works because the fee only attaches to a completed payment transaction.

Allegro

Allegro's commission model differs. Listing is free, and the commission (typically 2.5–14% depending on category) charges only when an item sells. For business sellers who use Allegro's return methods, the platform handles refunds automatically.

When a buyer returns an item using an Allegro return method, Allegro sends the refund automatically 7 calendar days after you physically pick up the return parcel. The commission is refunded automatically if the return conditions are met — this is stated in Allegro's automatic refunds FAQ. You can still intervene within those 7 days to manually refund or refuse the return if you disagree.

Allegro promotions

Allegro offers paid promotion called Wyróżnienie (featured offer). The price is 19.90 zł gross per 10 days for most categories (5.90 zł for fashion and jewellery, 2.90 zł per day for flexible options). This is in addition to the regular commission. Whether the Wyróżnienie fee is refunded if the buyer cancels or returns is not stated in Allegro's publicly available documentation.

OLX

OLX handles promotions and package units differently, and the rules are stricter.

Commission ("Zapłać, jeśli sprzedasz")

OLX offers a "Zapłać, jeśli sprzedasz" (pay if you sell) commission model for private sellers who use OLX shipping and OLX Payments. The commission is a percentage of the item price plus delivery cost, deducted from your payout once the buyer collects the item. The exact rate depends on the category and is shown during listing. If the buyer cancels before collecting, the commission is not charged — and therefore nothing is refunded because nothing was paid.

Promotions

OLX promotions — including wyróżnienie (highlight), refreshes, and package features — cannot be reactivated if you delete the listing, the item sells, or you change the listing to a different item. The unused portion of the promotion fee is never refunded. This applies whether you end the listing yourself or it gets removed for any reason.

Package units

OLX listing packages (Pakiet Standard, Premium, Megapakiet) are sold in units. One unit covers one publication or one new emission. If OLX removes your listing for a rule breach (such as prohibited content or category violations), the unit is not refunded — you lose it. The package terms explicitly state this.

However, if OLX removes a listing as spam or unlawful content, the fee is refunded to Consumers except in cases of repeat violations. This is an important distinction: your listing gets removed as spam versus removed for breaking listing rules.

Automatic buyer refunds

OLX also triggers automatic refunds to buyers in specific situations — not refunds to you, but situations where you may lose both the sale and the fee:

• You do not confirm the sale within 72 hours of the order
• You do not hand the parcel to the carrier within 3 working days of accepting the order
• Both parties agree to cancel via OLX messaging
• A Pakiet Ochronny (buyer protection) claim is decided in the buyer's favour

Vinted

Vinted's model is distinct because there is no seller commission. Sellers pay nothing to list or sell — the only optional paid services are Bump and Showcase.

Vinted has announced updated Terms taking effect 8 October 2026 for the UK, US and Polish markets. Any changes to fee refund rules will apply from that date.

Shipping cancellation

If you don't ship within 5 business days, the order is cancelled automatically. Vinted sends you a prepaid shipping label, and if you don't use it in time, the transaction cancels. There's no fee to refund because no seller fee was charged.

Bump

A Vinted Bump pushes your listing higher in search results for 3 or 7 days, or until the item sells. The Bump price is not published — it shows at checkout. Vinted's help pages do not state whether a Bump fee is refunded if the order is cancelled or returned. Contact Vinted support if your Bump disappears with a cancelled order.

What this means for profit

Since Vinted charges no seller commission, cancelled or returned orders don't directly cost you a platform fee. However, if you've paid for a Bump and the item doesn't sell, the Bump fee may be lost — contact Vinted support to request a refund in this case.
