How to Price for Offers and Set an Offer Floor
Decide your lowest acceptable price before the first lowball arrives.

- Write down your offer floor before you list: the higher of break-even and fast sell, raised to fair value when comparable items leave the market steadily.
- Headroom is listing price minus floor. Size it from demand: little or none when identical items leave the market fast, up to market ask when exact matches are scarce.
- On Vinted a buyer can offer at most 40% below your price, offers aren't binding, and the item stays buyable until someone presses "Buy now" (help page 258, checked 13 Sept 2026).
- Answer an offer below your floor with one counter at the floor. Never split the difference.
- A seller offer to one interested buyer is a private markdown: use it before cutting the public price.
Before you decide how much to price above to allow offers, fix the lowest offer you will accept. Your offer floor is the higher of your break-even price and your fast-sell level. Headroom, the gap between listing price and floor, then depends on demand: small for items that leave the market fast, larger for slow or scarce ones.

Why an offer floor matters
On Vinted, offers are built in. Help page 258 (UK and PL, checked 13 September 2026) says:
- a buyer can offer "up to 40% less than the original cost" (the UK page's wording for your listed price), and buyers can send up to 25 offers a day;
- offers "aren't binding": after you accept, the item stays available to others until someone presses "Buy now" ("Kup teraz" in Poland);
- offers apply to the item only, not to postage or fees.
A lowball costs the buyer nothing. Example: list at 290 zł and a buyer can still offer 174 zł. Without a written floor, your mood sets the price.
Setting the floor from fair value and fees
Break-even must include fees. Vinted's PL and UK price lists show no seller commission; the Buyer Protection fee ("usually" 5% + 2.90 zł in Poland) is paid by the buyer, so an accepted 260 zł offer is 260 zł for the item. Vinted's new Terms take effect on 5 October 2026 (Germany, France) and 8 October 2026 (UK, Poland), and press reports say the fee becomes the "Vinted fee", so recheck the price list then. On Allegro Lokalnie "Kup teraz" the fee page lists 7.9%: divide costs by 0.921, or use the break-even calculator.
Worked example, using the used Nike Dunks from the resale pricing guide: cost 120 zł, buyer pays shipping, fast sell 230 zł, fair value 260 zł, market ask 290 zł. Break-even on Vinted is 120 zł, and on Allegro Lokalnie 120 ÷ 0.921 = 130.29 zł. Fast sell is higher than either, so the floor is 230 zł. Exits are steady, so raise it to 260 zł.
How much to price above to allow offers: headroom by demand
Take headroom from the gaps between price levels, not a fixed percentage: no marketplace publishes typical accepted discounts.
| Demand evidence | List at | Floor | Headroom in the example |
|---|---|---|---|
| Many identical listings, fast exits | Fair value | Fair value | 0 zł: refuse offers |
| Steady exits, normal competition | Market ask | Fair value | 30 zł |
| Few exact matches, slow exits | Market ask | Balanced | 45 zł |
Answering lowballs politely
At or above your floor, accept. Below it, counter once at the floor — "Thanks, 260 zł is the lowest I can do." — and don't split the difference: meeting a 160 zł offer halfway on a 290 zł listing gives 225 zł, below fast sell. The full set of reply scripts — counters, questions that screen serious buyers, and clean declines — is in how to respond to lowball offers.
When to refuse all offers
Write "price is firm" in the description when any of these apply:
- Comparables leave the market fast and you already list at fair value
- Your price is at or near break-even
- It's a bundle already at each item's floor
- You're testing a price for one review period
The per-item floor for bundles is in how to price bundles and lots.
Offers vs markdowns
Vinted's help page says sellers can also send a lower price to a potential buyer, and it is visible "only" to that buyer. Others still see the original price. That makes a seller offer a private markdown. Send one to a buyer who shows interest before you cut the public price, which when to lower your price steps down one level at a time. The same floor applies to both.
Some crosslisters automate offers: Vendoo's help centre (9 July 2026) describes automatic offers to likers on Poshmark, eBay, Mercari and Depop, with Vinted not listed, and Flyp says it does not offer "Bulk Offers to Vinted at this time". Set any such tool to your floor.
