Vinted Listing Rules Resellers Break Most Often

Catalogue rules that get listings hidden or accounts suspended.

By reva editorial teamUpdated 5 min read
Two Vinted-style listing cards side by side: one with a catalogue photo and a title full of brand names, one with the seller's own photos and an honest condition note
Key takeaways
  • Photos must be your own: Vinted's Catalogue Rules ban stock photos, photos from ads and watermarked images, and stock-looking photos are also a commercial-selling signal, so one catalogue shot counts against you twice.
  • Only the item's real brand goes in the brand field, title, description or hashtags; adding unrelated brands for search traffic is brand spam.
  • An item in a bundle cannot also be listed on its own, and the bundle needs a bundle label and one total price.
  • Service wording such as "out of stock", "can be ordered" or "check back later" is banned, as are links to other sites or platforms.
  • Repeated breaches can mean a suspension (Vinted's example is 7 days) or a permanent block. New Vinted Terms take effect on 5 Oct 2026 in Germany and France and 8 Oct 2026 in the UK, US and Poland.

Vinted's listing rules that resellers break most often are about photos that aren't of the actual item, brands that aren't on the item, the same piece live alone and in a bundle, links or "out of stock" wording, and stock that looks commercial on a personal account. One breach can get a listing hidden or removed; repeated ones can get the account suspended or blocked.

Rules below are from Vinted's UK Catalogue Rules (no "last updated" date shown), its commercial-selling help and the Terms, read 13 September 2026. Fees, Pro and the rest are in the Vinted reseller guide.

Photos: real, not stock, not from the internet

Photos "cannot be replaced with stock photos, photos from ads and watermarked images", and the UK Terms add they must not be "taken from the internet". "Stock photos or professional-looking photos" are also a commercial signal, so a catalogue shot breaks a rule and adds a signal at once.

Flyp's help centre warns that a plain white background "tends to trigger Vinted's 'no stock photos' auto moderation". That is a vendor's claim, not a Vinted rule.

Decision rule: if a photo could have come from the brand's website, don't upload it. Which shots buyers need is in product photos that sell second-hand items.

The same trainers listed two ways
Weak listing
Nike Air Max 90 Adidas Jordan
Example: 250 zł
Brand: Nike
  • Stock-style photo
  • Unrelated brands: brand spam
  • "Other sizes out of stock": banned wording
Strong listing
Nike Air Max 90, EU 42
Example: 250 zł
Brand: NikeCondition: Good
  • Wear visible in photos
  • Only the real brand
  • Defects written out
Mock-up with example values, not a real listing.

Titles and brands: no brand spam

Unrelated brands are banned in the brand field, title, description and hashtags. A plain trainer tagged "Nike Adidas Jordan" for search traffic is exactly what the rule describes, and moving the names into hashtags doesn't fix it.

Decision rule: if the brand isn't on the label or the item, it goes in no field. What a title should contain instead is in writing listing titles and descriptions.

Bundles: one item, one live listing

A bundle needs a bundle label and one total price. Its items "cannot be listed separately", and an electronics bundle may hold at most 2 battery-powered devices.

Decision rule: end the single listings of every piece before the bundle goes live. Don't shuttle pieces between singles and bundles: the Terms bar deleting and re-listing "the same Item multiple times or multiple Items in bulk". Discount maths is in how to price bundles and lots; the relisting clause in Vinted bot and automation rules.

No links or references to other sites or platforms in listings or profiles, except a personal, non-commercial social media profile. Delete before publishing:

  • "Also on OLX", shop or messenger links
  • "renting", "can be ordered"
  • "out of stock", "check back later"
  • "can be customised"

These phrases describe stock and services, not one second-hand item, which is why volume sellers write them.

Prohibited items and counterfeits

Examples from the rules Status
Counterfeits, including spare parts, accessories and handmade items resembling other brands "Strictly forbidden"; risk of "civil and criminal proceedings"
Medicines, supplements, tickets, gift cards, subscriptions, services, digital goods Not allowed
Worn underwear bottoms, shapewear, used barbecue items Not allowed; worn bras, swimwear, tights and socks allowed if washed and disclosed
Fur, reptile skin, shell, ivory Not allowed; leather and wool allowed

Checks for branded stock are in how to spot fake listings.

Condition and defects

A condition is required, defects must be described, and up to 3 materials can be selected. Vinted's UK help counts undisclosed damage, wrong size and different main materials as "significantly not as described"; see Vinted returns and disputes. Pro listings also need product-safety and manufacturer information.

Decision rule: if you would point a flaw out in person, it goes in a photo and the description.

Signals Vinted treats as commercial

Individual users may not list "items which are intended to be sold for commercial purposes". Three signals show in the listing itself: new or tagged items, identical items in several sizes or colours, and stock-looking photos. No order or revenue threshold is published. The full list is in private vs business seller.

Sanctions for breaking Vinted listing rules

The Catalogue Rules allow a suspension "e.g. for a period of 7 days", or a permanent block, for repeated violations or "items of a seemingly commercial nature". The Terms add warnings, removing or auto-correcting items, hiding content and restricting features, and Vinted "may sometimes use automated software or algorithms" to detect breaches.

Updated Terms take effect on 5 October 2026 (Germany, France) and 8 October 2026 (UK, US, Poland). Value Added Resource reports a shorter enforcement section and 48 hours instead of 24 to send counterfeit evidence. Re-check after 8 October 2026.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use stock photos on Vinted?
No. Vinted's Catalogue Rules ban stock photos, photos from ads and watermarked images, and the UK Terms say photos must not be taken from the internet. Stock or professional-looking photos are also a commercial-selling signal. Photograph the item you will actually post, labels and wear included, even when the brand's own image looks better.
Why was my Vinted listing removed?
Start with the message Vinted sent you. Common grounds in its rules are photos that aren't yours, unrelated brands, links to other sites, banned wording, prohibited or counterfeit items, and commercial selling on a personal account. Fix the issue across all your listings first. On vinted.pl you get one appeal per moderation decision within 6 months, so put all your evidence in it.
Can I list the same item alone and in a bundle?
No. The Catalogue Rules say items in a bundle cannot be listed separately, and the bundle must carry a bundle label and one total price. Pick one format per item, end the single listings before the bundle goes live, and don't keep moving pieces in and out, since the Terms bar repeatedly deleting and re-listing the same item.
What does Vinted consider commercial selling?
Listing items meant to be sold for commercial purposes from a personal account. Vinted's non-exhaustive signals include completed orders, revenue, many new or tagged items, one item in several sizes or colours, stock photos, bulk-bought or dropshipped cheap goods, and services such as renting. No threshold is published, and the Polish page says Pro is not open to Polish businesses.
