Reselling Trading Cards in Europe

Raw or graded, singles or lots: how card prices and platforms work for resellers.

Key takeaways
  • Singles, graded slabs and bulk lots are three products. Build comps for each separately, and never price a raw card from slab prices or a lot from single-card prices.
  • eBay.co.uk authenticates trading cards automatically from £350, free to the seller. eBay's US page accepts only PSA, Beckett, CGC and SGC slabs and excludes GMA, HGA, KSA, WCG and GBA.
  • Vinted allows trading cards but prohibits graded cards without an authenticity certificate (Catalogue Rules, UK and PL, checked 13 Sept 2026).
  • Catawiki takes 12.5% plus a fixed amount it does not state on its help page, excluding VAT; buyers add 9% + €3. Treat the fixed part as unknown until your seller account shows it.
  • Grade a card only when the gap between graded and raw comps is bigger than grading, shipping both ways and the extra fees, using the grade you can realistically expect.

Reselling trading cards works when you treat raw singles, graded slabs and bulk lots as three separate products, each with its own comps and sales route. A raw Pokémon single can go on Vinted or Allegro Lokalnie. A high-value slab belongs where buyers can check it, such as eBay.co.uk, which authenticates cards from £350. A bulk lot is priced per card.

Below: grading, comps, routes, authentication, fees, liquidity and fakes. Platform facts were checked on 13 September 2026; every card price is an example.

Singles, graded slabs and lots

What you sell A comp must match Main risk
Raw single Set, card number, language, variant, visible condition Condition disputes from photos
Graded slab The same, plus the same grader and grade Fake holder, or a grader the buyer doesn't accept
Bulk lot Card count, sets, share of rares, condition range Buyers assume the best cards were removed

Decision rule: if one card is worth more than the rest of the lot together, sell it as a single. Per-card floors for the remainder are in how to price bundles and lots.

Condition and grading basics

A raw card's grade is your claim, judged from your photos. A slab carries a third party's grade, and grades from different companies are different comps. We did not research grading prices or turnaround, so take them from the grader's current price list, then check:

grade only if: graded fair value − raw fair value > grading fee + shipping both ways + extra marketplace fees

Example: raw comps have a median of 120 zł; comps at the grade you realistically expect, from one grader, have a median of 260 zł. The gap is 140 zł. If costs come to 150 zł, keep it raw.

Finding comparable sales for a specific card

Search the exact card, not the character. eBay shows sold listings; on Vinted, OLX and Allegro Lokalnie you log comparable listings and note the last price of those that left the market. The routine is in how to find sold comps.

  • Same set, card number, language and print variant
  • Raw against raw; slabs only against the same grader and grade
  • Singles only, no lots in the comp set
  • One market and currency: no eBay.co.uk prices in a zł comp set

The median of exits becomes five price levels, as in the resale pricing guide.

  • Poland: Vinted takes no seller commission, but standard accounts are for personal selling and help page 1120 says Pro is not open to Polish businesses. Allegro Lokalnie lets only regular accounts sell; allegro.pl charges 3–14% net in Kolekcje i sztuka.
  • UK buyers: eBay.co.uk charges UK private sellers no final value fee; sellers based outside the UK pay 12.8% + 30p. Business rates are on eBay UK fees.

Vinted's updated Terms take effect on 5 October 2026 in Germany and France and 8 October 2026 in the UK and Poland; press reports the Buyer Protection fee will be renamed "Vinted fee". Re-check the price list after your date.

Authentication and accepted graders

eBay's authentication is automatic for eligible items, free to the seller, with no opt-out. On eBay.co.uk, cards qualify from £350. The card goes to an authenticator, usually inspected within 2 business days; if it fails, the buyer is refunded and it returns to you.

eBay's US page sets the line at $200 and accepts slabs from PSA, Beckett, CGC and SGC only, excluding GMA, HGA, KSA, WCG and GBA. We recorded that list from the US page only, so check the UK page. eBay.de's page doesn't list trading cards.

  • If a slab from an excluded grader will sell above £350 on eBay.co.uk, expect inspection trouble.
  • On Vinted, include the certificate: the PL rules prohibit "karty kolekcjonerskie z oceną stanu, ale bez certyfikatu autentyczności".

Fees and buyer protection on auction platforms

Example, Catawiki: a lot ends at €100. The buyer pays €112 before shipping. You pay €12.50 plus the unstated fixed amount and VAT, so you receive less than €87.50. Bidding starts at €1, at 50% of your reserve or at the reserve, so set one on any card with a clear floor.

Example, Allegro Lokalnie: a 400 zł auction costs 31.60 zł at 7.9%, charged only if the buyer pays within 72 hours or fills in the delivery form.

Example, eBay.co.uk private seller: a £50 card costs you nothing; the buyer's fee is £0.10 + 7% of £20 + 4% of £30 = £2.70.

No marketplace publishes how fast cards sell, so count exits against live asks over the same weeks, as in how to check resale demand.

Example: a popular-set card shows 12 exits against 15 asks in three weeks; a niche promo shows 1 against 6.

  • Exits keeping pace with asks: price at fair value.
  • Asks piling up: start at balanced, or add the card to a lot.
  • No exits: auction with a reserve at your floor, or hold.

How cards score against other categories is in best things to resell in Europe.

Spotting fake and resealed products

Vinted's Catalogue Rules call counterfeits "strictly forbidden". None of the marketplace pages we read explains how to detect resealed packs, so treat these as filters, not proof:

  • Sealed product priced below comparable sealed listings with no reason
  • Wrapping or seams that differ from a box you know is genuine
  • Slab photos without a readable label and certificate number
  • A certificate the grader's own lookup doesn't show, where one exists
  • Payment requested outside the marketplace

Decision rule: if you can't open a claim through the marketplace, don't buy sealed product you can't verify. Seller patterns are in how to spot fakes and replica listings.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between raw and graded cards?
A raw card is sold as it is, and the buyer judges its condition from your photos. A graded card has been assessed by a grading company and sealed in a labelled holder showing the grade. Treat them as separate products with separate comps: a slab price says nothing about the same card raw. On Vinted, graded cards without an authenticity certificate are prohibited.
Does eBay authenticate trading cards in the UK?
Yes, above a price line. eBay.co.uk's authentication help page lists trading cards from £350. Enrolment is automatic, free to the seller and cannot be switched off. If a card fails, the buyer is refunded and the card comes back to you. The page lists no optional check for cheaper cards, and eBay.de's page does not list trading cards at all.
What does Catawiki charge sellers?
A seller success fee of 12.5% of the sale price plus an additional fixed amount, excluding VAT, which is added at your country's rate. The help page we read on 13 September 2026 does not state the fixed amount, so confirm it in your seller account before setting a reserve. Buyers separately pay 9% of the final bid plus €3.
Can I sell trading cards on Vinted?
Yes. Vinted's Catalogue Rules on vinted.co.uk and vinted.pl list trading cards as allowed, but prohibit graded cards without an authenticity certificate. Sellers pay no commission; in Poland the buyer pays a Buyer Protection fee of usually 5% + 2.90 zł. Press reports say it becomes the "Vinted fee" under Terms taking effect on 8 October 2026 in Poland.
