Why electronics differ from clothes

A jacket is judged by eye. A laptop is judged by whether it works, and the buyer finds out after paying.

Decision rule: if you can't test a category in person, don't source it yet. How electronics rank against other categories is on the best things to resell in Europe.

Testing before you buy

Meet where there is a socket, bring a cable you know works, and budget ten minutes.

For phones, IMEI and iCloud checks are on reselling used iPhones.

Accessories, boxes and receipts

Missing parts change the price and the claim risk: Vinted's SNAD list includes "missing parts not disclosed", and OLX's Pakiet Ochronny covers an incomplete item.

• Original charger, with the wattage printed on it
• Controllers, cables, lens caps, remote
• Box and inserts, which also protect the device in the post
• Receipt, with personal data covered in photos

• Charger missing: price against comps that also lack one, or deduct what a replacement costs you.
• On OLX: list spare accessories separately; they use the 5–10 accessory slots, not the 2 device slots.
• On Vinted: an electronics bundle may hold at most 2 battery-powered devices (Catalogue Rules).

Pricing by model, age and condition

Match the full model name, storage, memory and region. Two laptops with one name and different storage are different items, and age shows up in their exits.

Channels in Poland: OLX, Allegro Lokalnie, Allegro, Vinted

Pick by the rule that hits first:

• OLX: cash pickup lets the buyer test before paying. With 2 free slots, don't end and relist: within 14 days that counts as a duplicate.
• Allegro Lokalnie: regular (private) accounts only. A local listing costs 0 zł; Kup teraz adds Allegro's buyer protection for 4.9%.
• allegro.pl: Allegro's account-comparison page doesn't say whether regular accounts face selling limits; third-party claims are unconfirmed.
• Vinted: the buyer pays Buyer Protection, usually 5% + 2.90 zł in Poland. Standard accounts are personal-use only. New Vinted Terms take effect on 8 October 2026 in Poland and the UK (5 October in Germany and France), renaming the buyer charge "Vinted fee".

Fees and listing limits for electronics

A 2026 secondary source reports 4% for Lokalnie electronics; the official page still says 4.9%. Every OLX row and renewal rule is on OLX listing limits by category; Smart! costs and the 4% question are on Allegro Lokalnie fees.

If reselling becomes a business, biznes.gov.pl (updated 5 May 2026) says the VAT exemption up to 240,000 zł doesn't cover online distance sales of computers and electronics. General information, not tax advice: ask a tax adviser.

Returns, claims and shipping damage

• OLX delivery: Pakiet Ochronny covers an item not matching the listing, including function and undisclosed damage. The buyer has 48 hours from pickup or delivery; an accepted claim returns at your cost. Change of mind isn't covered.
• Vinted: undisclosed damage or faulty function is SNAD; disclosed wear on electronics isn't. Private sellers needn't accept change-of-mind returns, and Buyer Protection refunds an item that arrives damaged.
• Allegro Lokalnie: Ochrona Kupujących covers Kup teraz and auctions; compensation isn't always 100%.

• Film the device powering on, serial visible, before packing
• Name every fault in the description and photograph each mark
• Pack in the original box or with padding on all sides
• Keep the video until the claim window closes

Data wiping and locked devices

A locked device is close to worthless to you, and an unwiped one exposes its last owner.

When buying:

• The seller signs out of every account in front of you
• Anti-theft and location services are off before you pay
• No startup or firmware password appears after a restart
• "I'll remove it later" means walk away

When selling: sign out of every account, remove the device from account-linked services, factory reset, remove SIM and memory cards, then restart to confirm it opens the setup screen. Buyers on Vinted can add Electronics Verification, which sends the device to a hub for checks before delivery.
