OLX vs Facebook Marketplace for Sellers in Poland
One has category limits and built-in delivery, the other is free and local. Here is when each wins.

- OLX limits private sellers to a set number of free listings per category, with business accounts often getting none free; Facebook Marketplace's own posting is free with no published category caps.
- OLX's delivery runs through Płatności OLX, with the buyer paying the Pakiet Ochronny fee, a 48-hour claim window and a 120-hour seller response window; Facebook's published protections cover the US only, so Poland isn't described on the pages we checked.
- Both platforms are exposed to the same core scam: a buyer sending a fake payment link outside the real checkout flow.
- DAC7 reporting has applied in Poland since 1 July 2024 for platforms once a seller passes 30 sales or €2,000 a year — this is a reporting threshold, not a new tax, and it's not stated whether Meta applies the same reporting to Marketplace sellers.
- Route by shape: shippable or valuable items to OLX with delivery; bulky, cheap, strictly local items to either, with Marketplace's free listing as the tiebreaker.
OLX vs Facebook Marketplace in Poland is really a question about the item, not the platform. Anything worth shipping or protecting in a dispute points to OLX, where Płatności OLX gives a buyer-paid protection package with a defined claim window. Anything bulky, cheap or strictly local can go on either, and Facebook Marketplace costs nothing to post on. This page sits in the reselling guide and sticks to what each platform's own pages publish — no guessed audience sizes, no invented statistics.
The short answer
If the item will be shipped, or you want a documented protection flow behind the sale, list it on OLX. If it's bulky, cheap, or you only expect a local pickup buyer, either platform works, and Facebook Marketplace's free posting makes it the lower-friction option for that kind of item. Most active resellers in Poland end up using both, matched to the item rather than picked once and used for everything — the full method for selling on OLX itself is in the OLX reselling guide.
Costs: free listing limits on OLX vs free Marketplace posts
At the time of writing (September 2026), OLX sets free-listing limits per category under Annex 3 of its terms, effective from 7 January 2026 — the exact caps vary by category, and business accounts get zero free listings in a number of them, private accounts more. Facebook Marketplace's own posting carries no listing fee and no published per-category cap on the pages we checked.
That doesn't make Marketplace strictly cheaper: OLX's category limits cover ordinary private selling volume for most sellers, and the fee only becomes relevant once you're posting past those limits — see OLX fees and listing limits for the category-by-category detail.
Delivery and buyer protection
OLX's delivery flow requires Płatności OLX. Under OLX's terms (effective 27 April 2026, Annex 8), the buyer pays the Pakiet Ochronny fee on top of the price, has a 48-hour window to file a claim after delivery, and the seller has 120 hours to respond; if a claim is accepted, the return goes back at the seller's cost, and payout happens once the buyer confirms receipt or 48 hours after delivery, whichever comes first. As a seller you confirm the order within 72 hours and ship within 3 working days — the full walkthrough is in OLX delivery and Pakiet Ochronny.
Facebook's published commerce terms describe a 10% selling fee on shipped orders (minimum $0.80) along with Purchase Protection and Seller Protection — but those pages describe the US market. For Poland, the honest answer is: not stated on the pages we checked. Don't assume the same numbers or protections apply here.

Safety for sellers: scams on each platform
The same core scam works against sellers on both platforms: a buyer sends a link to a fake "payment" or "shipping label" page outside the real checkout, and the seller loses the item, the money, or both by clicking it. A second pattern targets sellers who agree to meet locally: a "buyer" who asks to pay by transfer before pickup and shows a doctored confirmation screenshot instead of a real payment. Neither platform's pages we checked publish a fraud rate or a "most common scam" statistic, so we won't invent one.
The practical defence is the same everywhere: only complete payment inside the platform's own checkout, never through a link sent in chat, and for a local cash sale, confirm the transfer has actually cleared in your own banking app before handing anything over — the fuller method is in OLX scams aimed at sellers. OLX's delivery flow at least gives a seller a documented claim window to point to if a dispute happens through the platform itself; a scam that starts with a link sent outside either platform's checkout leaves no such record on either one.
Private or business: account rules
OLX defines a business user separately from a private seller and applies different limits to each; OLX also treats re-posting the same item as a duplicate within a 14-day reference window, which matters if you're tempted to relist rather than wait out a free-listing cap. Facebook's pages we checked don't describe an equivalent account-tier system for Marketplace sellers in Poland.
One more line worth knowing regardless of platform: DAC7 reporting has applied in Poland since 1 July 2024, triggered once a seller passes 30 sales or €2,000 in a year on a reporting platform. That's a reporting threshold, not a new tax, and it isn't stated whether Meta applies the same reporting to Marketplace sellers — check the source directly rather than assuming either way.
Which items suit which platform

A bike, a console, a dresser and a pair of headphones don't belong on the same channel by default — match the item's value and shippability to the platform's actual protection, not to habit.
Using both without double sales
Nothing on either platform's checked pages forbids listing the same item on both at once, so many sellers do. The discipline that matters is speed: the moment one sale confirms, pull the listing from the other platform immediately, before a second buyer messages about an item that's already gone. If Facebook Marketplace is new territory for you, the full setup is in selling on Facebook Marketplace in Poland.
Keep the two listings close enough in wording and photos that you're not maintaining two different descriptions of the same condition — a mismatch between what OLX says and what Facebook Marketplace says invites a buyer to ask which one is accurate, and that's a question you don't want to answer mid-negotiation. Set a reminder for yourself the moment you post on both, not just when a message comes in, since a sale can close on either platform without any notification reaching the other.
