Reselling in Poland: The English-Language Guide

Marketplaces, fees in zł, sourcing, shipping and the legal basics, in one place.

Vinted, OLX and Allegro Lokalnie side by side with złoty prices, a parcel locker and a second-hand clothing rack
Key takeaways
  • Poland's three everyday resale sites charge in three different ways. On Vinted the buyer usually pays 5% + 2.90 zł on top of your price. OLX meters free listings by category and doesn't publish its commission or protection amounts. Allegro Lokalnie bills the seller 7.9%, 4.9% in Elektronika or 0 zł on local listings.
  • Account rules bite before fees do. Standard Vinted accounts may not list items meant for commercial sale, and Vinted Pro is not open to Polish businesses. Only regular (private) Allegro accounts can list on Lokalnie, and on OLX your private or business declaration covers everything you do there.
  • Unregistered activity in Poland is capped at 10,813.50 zł of revenue per quarter in 2026, and biznes.gov.pl says the route has been restricted for foreigners since 1 June 2025. Check your status before you buy stock.
  • DAC7 reporting starts at 30 sales or more than €2,000 a year per platform (Allegro counts Lokalnie with it). A report is not a tax bill, but ignoring a data request can freeze your payouts.
  • Example: a 150 zł jacket leaves you 150 zł on Vinted and 138.15 zł with Kup teraz on Allegro Lokalnie, but price it so the Vinted buyer also pays 150 zł and the gap is under 2 zł. OLX can't be calculated until you enter the rate it shows you.

Reselling in Poland, as a side hustle or a small business, runs through three general second-hand sites: Vinted, OLX.pl and Allegro Lokalnie. On Vinted the buyer pays the fee, OLX rations free listings by category, and Allegro Lokalnie takes a commission from the seller. Before you compare fees, check the two rules that can close a channel to you entirely: whether your account type may sell there, and whether your turnover fits Poland's unregistered-activity limit.

This guide is for English speakers buying and selling second-hand in Poland. It takes each marketplace's seller rules in turn, then sourcing, shipping deadlines, tax and DAC7, seller-targeted scams, and one jacket run through all three sites. Every platform fact comes from the marketplaces' own documents or Polish government pages, read on 13 September 2026. For the wider method across Europe, start with the pillar guide to reselling in Europe.

Reselling in Poland: the market at a glance

The only market-size figure we could trace to a primary source is OLX's own. In a news post dated 26 February 2026, OLX Group wrote that "according to OLX data", re-commerce in Poland grew 15% in 2024 to PLN 9.5 billion. It is a 2024 figure from a marketplace describing its own sector, so read it as an order of magnitude. None of the official pages we read gives a Polish user count for any of the three sites.

For a seller, the day-to-day differences are these:

Vinted.pl, OLX.pl and Allegro Lokalnie for a private seller
Vinted PolandOLX.plAllegro Lokalnie

Official Vinted PL, OLX and Allegro pages. "Not stated" means the pages read don't say, not that nothing exists. From public product pages, checked 2026-09-13

The fee rows are worked through in zł on marketplace fees in Poland. Neither page names a "cheapest marketplace", because OLX publishes no amounts to calculate with.

Vinted.pl: buyer-paid fee and what sellers pay

Vinted Poland's price list, updated 15.09.2025, describes the Buyer Protection fee as "zwykle jest to 5% + 2,90 zł": usually 5% plus 2.90 zł, VAT included. The buyer pays it at checkout, and it varies with item characteristics, order value and order type (single item or bundle). There is no seller commission line.

As a seller you pay only for a Bump (3 or 7 days) or Showcase (7 days) if you choose one, and neither price is published. Buyers can add Item Verification at 45 zł or Electronics Verification at 20 zł. Example: a buyer paying for a 300 zł bag with Item Verification sees 300 × 1.05 + 2.90 + 45 = 362.90 zł before shipping, while you still receive 300 zł.

For resellers the account rule matters more. Vinted's help page 1120 bars individual users from listing items intended for commercial sale, names signals such as many new or tagged items and identical items in several sizes, and says Vinted Pro is not open to Polish businesses. Decision rule: if most of what you list on Vinted was bought to resell, you are in the territory that page describes. Read whether Vinted Pro is available in Poland before building a Vinted-only business.

OLX.pl: free listing limits and OLX delivery

OLX charges through listings, not a published commission. Annex 3 (effective 7 January 2026) sets free quotas per category, renewing 30 days after the last listing counted. A private user gets 2 free listings for smartphones, laptops, consoles and TVs, and a business user gets 0. For Moda, the private column shows only "-", which the annex doesn't define.

Publishing with the "firmowe" parameter or holding Business User status puts you on business limits, and the Terms say that declaration covers your whole activity on OLX.

Three rules shape how you work:

  • Listings run 30 days. In free and limited categories, ending a listing and adding the same item again within 14 days counts as a duplicate.
  • Packages and promotions have no published prices. Annex 6 describes Pakiet Standard, Premium and Megapakiet (up to 500 active listings) and the "Zapłać, jeśli sprzedasz" commission: a percentage of the gross item price, possibly plus a fixed element, taken from your payout. No document gives the rate.
  • OLX delivery needs Płatności OLX. The buyer prepays, with Pakiet Ochronny as a separate line. It isn't charged if you agree payment and delivery outside OLX.

On a delivery order the clock is tight. Under the Terms (§11.8) the buyer is refunded automatically if you don't confirm the sale within 72 hours or don't hand the parcel to the carrier within 3 working days of accepting. The buyer then has 48 hours from pickup to claim. With no claim, OLX orders your payout. Quotas, packages and the business switch are covered clause by clause in reselling on OLX.pl.

Allegro Lokalnie vs Allegro.pl: who can sell where

Allegro runs two marketplaces, and your account type decides which one you may sell on.

Allegro Lokalnie allegro.pl
Who can list Only regular (private) Allegro accounts; business accounts can buy but not sell Regular accounts (private individuals) and business accounts (entrepreneurs and registered entities)
Main seller fee 7.9% on Kup teraz and auctions, 4.9% in Elektronika, 0 zł on local listings Category commission, for example up to 11.5% net in Moda
When the fee is charged Only if the buyer pays within 72 hours or fills in the delivery form; refunded if you refund through Allegro On the sale, per the category table
Limits for private sellers Not stated on the pages read Not confirmed on Allegro's official pages

Adding company details to a regular account does not make it a business account. Converting to one, which sole traders can do, closes Lokalnie to you as a seller. Decision rule: if you sell as a registered business, list on allegro.pl; if you sell privately, Lokalnie gives you three fee levels instead of a category table. The fee trigger, Smart! parcels and claim rules are set out in selling on Allegro Lokalnie.

Sourcing in Poland: lumpeks, OLX pickups and cross-border buys

Every sourcing channel puts a different cost into your buy price. Some charge you in travel, others in what you can't see before paying.

Where Polish sourcing channels put their cost
How well you can inspect before paying →
Lumpeks (second-hand shops)You handle every piece, but pay in hours on the rails and trips to the shop.
OLX and Allegro Lokalnie pickupsYou test before paying, but each deal is a separate journey.
Online buys on Vinted, OLX or Lokalnie with deliveryLittle travel, condition judged from photos; buyer fees and shipping join the price.
Cross-border Vinted buysNo travel, least inspection, possible currency conversion fee.
Travel and time per item →
A way to compare channels, not a ranking. Which quadrant pays best depends on your category and your time.

Whatever the channel, fix a ceiling before you pay:

maximum buy price = expected sale price − seller fees − shipping you pay − packaging and travel − minimum profit you accept

Channel-specific costs to add to that sum:

  • Buying on vinted.pl: the Buyer Protection fee (usually 5% + 2.90 zł) and shipping, plus 45 zł if you add Item Verification
  • OLX pickup: paying in cash or by transfer outside OLX means no Pakiet Ochronny, so test the item before you pay
  • Lumpeks: travel and sorting time per item you keep, not per visit
  • Cross-border Vinted: Vinted's UK Terms mention a currency conversion fee of 1.2% or 3% of the item price where offered; which countries get which rate isn't published

Example: you expect a wool coat to sell for 180 zł with Kup teraz on Allegro Lokalnie (7.9%, so 14.22 zł). You budget 4 zł for packaging, 8 zł for the tram and a 60 zł minimum profit. The ceiling is 180 − 14.22 − 4 − 8 − 60 = 93.78 zł. A 70 zł lumpeks price passes. A 100 zł OLX listing doesn't, unless the seller comes down.

Don't assume vinted.pl is cheaper or dearer than other Vinted countries: compare the same model, size and condition after conversion and delivery. Shop cycles and rack checks are covered in sourcing in Polish lumpeks.

Shipping: platform deadlines and Allegro Lokalnie parcel prices

The official pages we read give no carrier prices for Vinted Poland or OLX delivery, so this section sticks to the deadlines and Lokalnie's two published parcel prices.

Vinted Poland OLX delivery Allegro Lokalnie
Your deadline Ship within 5 business days or the order is cancelled automatically; you can ask for 3 or 5 more, and the buyer may refuse Confirm within 72 hours, hand over within 3 working days of accepting, or the buyer is refunded Not stated on the pages read
Who pays shipping The buyer pays and chooses (UK help page; not confirmed on the PL page) Organised through OLX with Alsendo; prices not in the documents A buyer without Smart!, or under the Smart! order minimum, pays a flat 10.95 zł
Published parcel prices Not verified Not in the documents Allegro Paczkomaty InPost 10.95 zł; Allegro One Box 10.49 zł (gross)
Returns clock UK help pages: 2-day claim window, buyer pays return shipping; not verified for Poland If a claim is accepted, the return goes at your cost; pickup windows for the returned parcel: InPost 48 h, Orlen Paczka 72 h, Poczta Polska 7 days Refund your buyer through Allegro and the fee comes back

Smart! changes Lokalnie's maths. If you and the buyer both have it, Allegro pays for the first 6 parcels per quarter (Paczkomaty InPost or One Box only), and unused parcels don't roll over. The order minimum is 45 zł, or 49.90 zł for Smart! activated after 1 March 2026. After the pool, Smart! bez limitu costs you 4.99 zł per free Smart! sale.

Decision rule: if you can't reach a drop-off point within 3 working days, don't accept OLX delivery orders that week. Vinted gives you 5 business days; OLX counts from the moment you accept.

Taxes and limits: 6-month rule, unregistered activity, DAC7

This section is general information from Polish government pages, not tax advice. Confirm your situation with a doradca podatkowy (tax adviser) or your tax office.

The six-month rule. According to podatki.gov.pl, an occasional sale of a private item you have owned for more than six months, counted from the end of the month you bought it, is not taxed. Sold sooner, the gain goes on PIT-36, even at a loss. Items sold as a business are taxable however long you held them.

Buying to resell. biznes.gov.pl defines business activity as organised, continuous and profit-oriented activity in your own name. A rail of lumpeks buys listed for profit looks more like that than a wardrobe clear-out does. Where the line falls for you is a question for an adviser.

Unregistered activity (działalność nierejestrowana). biznes.gov.pl sets these conditions:

  • Revenue may not exceed 225% of the minimum wage in any quarter: 10,813.50 zł per quarter from 1 January 2026.
  • No business activity in the previous 60 months.
  • Go over the limit and you register in CEIDG within 7 days.
  • The route has been restricted for foreigners since 1 June 2025. If you are not a Polish citizen, check your eligibility first.

Example: months of 3,000, 3,000 and 4,000 zł make 10,000 zł in a quarter, leaving 813.50 zł of headroom. Record-keeping, ZUS and consumer rights are covered on can you resell in Poland without registering a business?

DAC7. Marketplaces report sellers who reach at least 30 sales or are paid more than the equivalent of €2,000 in a calendar year. That's per platform, but Allegro counts Allegro and Allegro Lokalnie together. The Ministry of Finance says it creates no new tax and doesn't by itself trigger an audit.

DAC7 in Poland: the dates that matter to a seller

  2. 1 January

  4. Early January

To track your own count, filter your sales by platform and calendar year: two columns, number of sales and total paid out. Count Allegro and Lokalnie as one row. Any row nearing 30 sales or €2,000 is a platform whose DAC7 data request you should expect.

Scams that target sellers in Poland

The fastest check on a suspicious buyer message is whether it fits the platform's own money flow. Here is what that flow looks like on each site, and what breaks it.

Platform How the seller actually gets paid So a message is suspect if it…
OLX delivery OLX orders the payout when the buyer confirms receipt, or 48 hours after pickup with no claim (Terms §11.7) asks you to click a link, enter card details or "confirm" a payment outside the OLX app
Allegro Lokalnie On Kup teraz and auctions the buyer pays through Allegro, covered by Allegro Ochrona Kupujących (non-delivery claim after 14 days); your fee goes on your Allegro bill asks you to take payment or arrange delivery through a link outside Allegro's order flow
Vinted Payment shows as pending in your Vinted balance until the order completes (UK help page); listings and profiles may not contain external links (Catalogue Rules) sends you a link or asks you to deal off-site
  • Check every "sold" or "paid" message against the order screen inside the app, not the email or chat
  • Never enter card details to receive money
  • On a Pakiet Ochronny claim you have 120 hours to respond, so photograph items and parcels before sending

The common scripts, and how each one exploits OLX delivery or Allegro protection, are in OLX and Allegro Lokalnie scams that target sellers.

A worked example: one flip across three marketplaces

Example: you buy a wool jacket at a lumpeks for 40 zł. Comparable jackets suggest 150 zł is realistic. You pack it for 3 zł, and the buyer pays shipping unless stated. The fee rates are the published ones cited above. The purchase price, sale price and packaging are made up.

Example, one jacket Vinted Poland Allegro Lokalnie, Kup teraz Allegro Lokalnie, local listing OLX.pl with delivery
Your price 150 zł 150 zł 150 zł 150 zł
Fee 0 zł to you; buyer adds 10.40 zł 7.9% = 11.85 zł, billed to you 0 zł Pay-if-sold rate not published; enter what OLX shows
Buyer's total before shipping 160.40 zł 150 zł 150 zł 150 zł + Pakiet Ochronny (amount not published)
You keep after the fee 150 zł 138.15 zł 150 zł 150 zł − the OLX rate
Profit after 40 zł cost and 3 zł packaging 107 zł 95.15 zł 110 zł (pickup, no packaging) unknown until you enter the rate

Two adjustments change the picture:

  • Matching the buyer's total. A Vinted buyer comparing totals sees 160.40 zł. To make them pay 150 zł, you list at (150 − 2.90) ÷ 1.05 = 140.10 zł and keep that, so profit is 97.10 zł. The 12 zł gap to Lokalnie shrinks to 1.95 zł.
  • Smart! bez limitu on Lokalnie. If the quarter's 6 free Smart! parcels are used up, the 4.99 zł fee takes profit from 95.15 zł to 90.16 zł.

Once you compare what the buyer pays, the fee gap is under 2 zł here. What decides the flip is the price each marketplace will hold, how fast it sells, and whether your account may sell there. The sale also counts towards that platform's DAC7 total, and because you bought the jacket to resell, the six-month rule for private items is the wrong test. For OLX, use the rate the app shows you: a missing rate is not zero.

Frequently asked questions

Which second-hand marketplaces are used in Poland?
The general second-hand marketplaces are Vinted (vinted.pl), OLX.pl and Allegro Lokalnie. allegro.pl takes both regular and business accounts but charges category commissions. None of them publishes a Polish user count on the official pages we read, so treat any "millions of users" claim with caution. The one market figure with a primary source is OLX's own: Polish re-commerce at PLN 9.5bn in 2024, up 15%, for the whole market rather than any single site.
What does DAC7 mean for Polish sellers?
The marketplace, not you, reports your sales once you reach 30 sales or more than €2,000 paid out in a calendar year on that platform. Two counting details from Allegro's help article: unpaid Lokalnie transactions don't count towards the limit, and fee-refunded transactions are left out of the report. The Ministry of Finance says DAC7 adds no new tax. This is general information, not tax advice.
How do I avoid scams when selling in Poland?
Keep payment and delivery inside the marketplace and check every order in the app itself. On OLX delivery orders, OLX releases the money either when the buyer confirms receipt or 48 hours after pickup if no claim is filed, so you never need to open a link to "receive" a payment. If a buyer wants to move to a courier, bank transfer or website outside the platform, stop, because OLX's buyer protection no longer applies there.
Can I sell in Poland in English?
The documents we read don't say which language a listing must be written in. What they do show is that the binding rules are in Polish: the OLX Terms (Regulamin) and annexes, Vinted Poland's price list and Terms, and Allegro Lokalnie's fee page. Allegro has some English help articles, for example on account types and DAC7. Your legal status matters more than language: biznes.gov.pl says unregistered activity has been restricted for foreigners since 1 June 2025.
