How to Price Items on Vinted

A reseller's pricing method for a marketplace without a public sold filter.

A five-level price ladder for a used down jacket on Vinted, with the top of Vinted's condition range marked above it
Key takeaways
  • Vinted's help page 376 (checked 13 Sept 2026) recommends 60–80% of retail for New/Like new, 40–60% for Very good and 20–40% for Good/Satisfactory. Use that range as a boundary, then narrow it with comparable listings.
  • Live asks show your competition; the last prices of comparable listings that disappeared show roughly where items leave the market. If the median ask is above fair value × 1.25, price off the exits.
  • Set the item price, not the buyer's total: on vinted.pl the buyer usually pays 5% + 2.90 zł on top, and Vinted's new Terms (5 Oct 2026 DE/FR, 8 Oct 2026 UK/PL) reportedly rename that charge "Vinted fee".
  • Lower the price by editing the live listing, one ladder level at a time. Vinted's Terms forbid deleting and re-listing the same item multiple times.
  • For high-value items, use exact matches only and trust the buyer fee shown at checkout, because Vinted says it varies with order value.

How to price items on Vinted comes down to three steps. Start with Vinted's own condition range (a share of the retail price), then narrow it with comparable listings: live asks show your competition, and the last prices of comparables that disappeared show roughly where items leave the market. Set your item price, not the buyer's total, because the buyer pays a Buyer Protection fee and shipping on top.

Below, one used down jacket on vinted.pl goes from retail price to the buyer's total, using the ladder from the resale pricing guide, as part of the Vinted reseller guide. Vinted facts were checked on 13 September 2026; every other number is an example.

What Vinted itself recommends

Vinted's help article "Choosing the price for your item" gives the same condition ranges on its UK and Polish sites; the UK wording calls them "recommendations to help you price your item based on its condition":

condition range = retail price × 60–80% (New / Like new), 40–60% (Very good) or 20–40% (Good / Satisfactory)

The UK page also says:

  • "Search the catalogue for similar items to see how other members price them."
  • "Setting a price that's lower than our catalogue average price might help you sell faster." Vinted doesn't publish that average.
  • "A discount may help you sell the items that do not fit the current season."
  • You can change the price "by editing your published listing", and you can set a price between £1 and £30,000. The Polish page gives 1 zł to 130,000 zł.

Example: a down jacket that cost 600 zł new, in Very good condition, gets 240–360 zł. That rules out 450 zł but can't choose between 260 and 340 zł.

Decision rule: use the condition range as a boundary, not as the price. If your comparables land outside it, check they really match on condition and model.

Finding similar items in the catalogue

Search brand and item type, set size and condition, and open each listing: photos are the evidence. General rules are in how to find comps on Vinted, OLX and Allegro Lokalnie. Vinted-specific checks:

  • Same country site: a vinted.de ask is not a vinted.pl comp, because currency and the buyer fee formula differ
  • Single items only: Catalogue Rules require a bundle to show one total price
  • Private and Pro apart (look for the "Pro" tag): Vinted's UK help says buyers can return a Pro seller's item for any reason within 14 days, while private sales have no change-of-mind return
  • Real photos: Catalogue Rules ban stock photos, so a listing using them is a weak comp

Poland is not among the countries where businesses can register for Pro, according to Vinted's Polish help page on commercial selling (checked 13 September 2026). On vinted.pl, the Pro check mostly won't apply.

Live asks vs items that left the market

Vinted's pricing page doesn't mention a sold filter; can you see sold prices on Vinted covers why blogs disagree. Keep two lists: comparable listings for sale today, and the last visible price of comparable listings you watched that disappeared. A listing can vanish because it sold, was deleted or relisted, so that list gives exit prices, not sale records. Drop anything that reappears with the same photos.

Example: over two weeks, eight comparable jackets disappear at 230, 250, 260, 270, 280, 290, 300 and 340 zł, so the median exit is (270 + 280) ÷ 2 = 275 zł. Ten are still live at 220, 240, 255, 290, 300, 310, 330, 350, 370 and 420 zł: median ask 305 zł, and the cheapest quarter ends around 255 zł.

Decision rules:

  • If the median ask is above fair value × 1.25 (here, above 343.75 zł), many live asks are ones buyers passed over. Price off the exits.
  • If you have asks but almost no exits, confidence is low: lean towards fast sell and keep watching.

Adjusting for size, condition and photos

  • Size. If your size rarely appears among live asks, start one level higher. If it is the most listed size, start one level lower.
  • Condition. Vinted's not-as-described help page includes undisclosed damage, incorrect size, wrong colour and different main materials. Grading up to reach a higher band buys a claim risk, not margin. See how condition changes resale price.
  • Photos. Compare your first photo with those of the comparables at your chosen level. If yours is darker or cropped, fix it before you drop the price.

Example: the jacket has a small repaired tear that none of the eight exits showed. Price it one level below a clean jacket and show the repair in the second photo.

The buyer fee: what the buyer sees at checkout

Vinted's price lists show no seller commission; the buyer pays item price, Buyer Protection fee and shipping. The Polish price list says the fee is "usually" 5% + 2.90 zł; France and Germany usually 5% + €0.70; the UK publishes a range, 3–8% + £0.30–£0.80. It varies with item characteristics, order value and order type, and checkout shows the exact amount. Every country is on Vinted fees by country.

Example: buyer's total for a 275 zł jacket on vinted.pl
Buyer pays306.65 zł
  • Item price you set275 zł
  • 5% of item price13.75 zł
  • Fixed fee part2.9 zł
  • Shipping (placeholder)15 zł
Usual Polish formula on the item price. Shipping is a placeholder, not a carrier price; checkout can differ.Illustrative example, not market data

Example in euro: a €40 item on vinted.de usually carries €2.70 in fee, so €42.70 before shipping.

Decision rule: compare item prices with item prices, never with the buyer's total. Don't cut to "absorb" the fee. Example: for the buyer to pay 275 zł before shipping, you'd list at (275 − 2.90) ÷ 1.05 ≈ 259 zł, a 16 zł cut.

Vinted's Terms pages announce updated Terms from 5 October 2026 (Germany, France) and 8 October 2026 (UK, Poland). Press coverage (Value Added Resource, September 2026) reports the Buyer Protection fee will be renamed "Vinted fee". Re-check the price list after 8 October 2026 before you rely on the formulas above.

How to price items on Vinted: choosing a ladder level

Fast sell sits near the cheapest quarter of comparable asks, fair value is the median exit, market ask the median live ask, and max profit never exceeds fair value × 1.25.

Example ladder: used down jacket, size M, Very good, vinted.pl
Fast sellcheapest quarter of asks255 zł
Balanced265 zł
Fair valuemedian exit275 zł
Market askmedian live ask305 zł
Max profitcap 275 × 1.25 = 343.75340 zł
Top of Vinted's Very good range360 zł
Example values. Vinted's range (240–360 zł) is wider than the ladder.Illustrative example, not market data

Vinted's "Our platform" page lists price among ranking attributes, next to upload time and brand. Its weight isn't published, so don't price for ranking.

Your situation Start at
You need cash this week, or many identical listings exist Fast sell or balanced
Steady exits, normal competition Fair value
Rare size or perfect condition, several close exits Market ask
Scarce exact matches, proven demand Max profit, never above the cap

Why we say "left the market" instead of "sold" is on the data and pricing methodology page.

When and how to lower

Lower the price by editing the live listing. The Terms (UK version applicable from 30-04-2026, matching Polish clause) say users must not "delete and re-list the same Item multiple times or multiple Items in bulk".

  • Interest but no favourites (if you can see views): retake the first photo before you touch the price.
  • Favourites but no buyer contact: step down one level.
  • Buyers asking below your floor: hold, and answer with your floor.
  • During a Bump: help page 340 says you can lower the price but not raise it, and the Bump cost stays the same.

A third-party claim that a cut of 5% or more notifies favouriters isn't on the Vinted help pages we read, so don't plan around it. Stop at fast sell; the full schedule is in when to lower your price.

High-value items: extra care

Fewer exact matches, more counterfeit risk and bigger claims change the method:

  • Count only exact matches: model, size, hardware, serials, papers and box
  • With few exits, price at balanced or fair value, not max profit
  • Photograph labels, serials and every flaw: Catalogue Rules forbid counterfeits, and undisclosed damage is a not-as-described claim
  • Expect buyers to weigh Item Verification: 45 zł (PL), £10 (UK), €10 (FR/DE); Electronics Verification 20 zł, £5, €5
  • Trust the buyer fee at checkout, not the usual formula: Vinted says it varies with order value

Press reports on the October 2026 Terms say sellers will get 48 hours instead of 24 to provide authenticity evidence for a counterfeit report, so have proof of purchase ready before you list.

Frequently asked questions

Does Vinted suggest a price?
Vinted's help article "Choosing the price for your item" gives ranges by condition, as a share of retail, and tells you to search the catalogue. The UK and Polish versions (read 13 September 2026) don't describe a price the app fills in. If your listing form shows one, check it against the median exit of your comparables before you accept it.
How do I know if my Vinted price is too low?
Two market checks: is it below the bottom of Vinted's condition range, and below the cheapest quarter of comparable live asks? If both, and your item has no flaw the comparables lack, move up one ladder level. Then a money check: after packaging, does it return what you paid? If not, you sell at a loss whatever the market says.
Should I price in round numbers?
We found no Vinted data showing charm prices change results, so pick the ladder level first, then round. If a round buyer total matters, work backwards from Poland's usual formula: item price = (target total − 2.90 zł) ÷ 1.05. Example: a 100 zł total before shipping needs about 92.50 zł. Checkout shows the exact fee.
How do I price high-value items on Vinted?
Price from exact matches only, at fair value rather than max profit. The bigger risk is a not-as-described return: Vinted's UK help says the buyer pays return shipping, but the refund covers the item price, the Buyer Protection fee and the original shipping, so a mis-graded item comes back with no payout. Photograph serials and flaws first.
