Pricing Backwards From Your Target Payout
Start with the zł you want to keep, add what each marketplace takes, then leave room for offers.

- Start from the payout you need, not from a round number you see elsewhere.
- Vinted: asking price = payout (no seller fee). The buyer pays the buyer protection fee on top.
- Allegro Lokalnie: divide by 0.921 for most categories, by 0.951 for electronics.
- OLX does not publish its commission rate — you can only estimate or test it.
- A reverse-calculated price above market value means the item was sourced too expensively.
When you know your buy price, your extra costs (cleaning, repairs, shipping to you), and the profit you want, the question is simple: what do you list it at? Most sellers start with a round number that looks right, then wonder why the payout is less than expected. The correct method is the reverse of that — work from what you need to keep, then calculate backwards to the asking price.
This page gives you the exact reverse formulas for Vinted, Allegro Lokalnie and explains where OLX stands, with a worked example for a target payout and a comparison table showing all three.
Start from your target payout
Your payout is not the same as your listing price. It is what lands in your account after every fee and cost. Before you open the listing form, write down:
- Buy price — what you paid for the item
- Extra costs — cleaning, minor repairs, shipping to you, materials
- Target profit — the amount you want to make on this item
Target payout = buy price + extra costs + target profit
That number is your floor. Everything below it loses you money; everything above it is profit. From this number you work backwards.
The resale pricing guide covers the full method — start here if you are new to pricing resale items.
Reverse formula per marketplace
Each marketplace charges fees differently, so the reverse formula changes:
| Vinted | Allegro Lokalnie (non-electronics) | Allegro Lokalnie (Elektronika) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Seller fee | 0 zł | 7.9% | 4.9% |
| Asking price needed | 150 zł | 162.87 zł | 157.73 zł |
| What buyer adds | buyer fee (≈5% + 2.90 zł) | delivery | delivery |
Vinted — seller pays nothing
Vinted charges no commission to individual sellers. Your payout equals your listing price when you ship with the prepaid Vinted label. The buyer pays the Buyer Protection fee on top of your price — this is shown at checkout and varies by item and order value. Vinted's UK platform page confirms "selling is free" for individuals, and the price list shows only optional Bump and Showcase as paid items.
Your asking price for a target payout is simply: asking price = target payout
Allegro Lokalnie — divide by (1 − fee)
Allegro Lokalnie charges a commission only when the item sells: 7.9% of the item value for most categories, and 4.9% for Elektronika (electronics). The fee is taken from what the buyer pays, so you divide:
asking price = target payout ÷ (1 − fee)
For most categories (7.9%): ÷ 0.921
For electronics (4.9%): ÷ 0.951
Example: target payout 150 zł → 150 ÷ 0.921 = 162.87 zł
The fee applies only if the buyer pays within 72 hours or fills in the delivery form. If the deal falls through, you pay nothing. The allegro-lokalnie-fees page has the full breakdown.
OLX — rate not published
OLX offers a "Zapłać, jeśli sprzedasz" (pay if you sell) model with commission as a percentage of the gross item price, possibly plus a fixed element. However, the exact rate is not published in the publicly available documents. You can estimate it by making a test sale, but there is no reliable reverse formula. For now, add a buffer and check your payout after the first sale to calibrate.
The marketplace fee calculator lets you input a price and see what each platform takes.
Worked example
Say you bought a vintage denim jacket for 90 zł, spent 10 zł on dry cleaning, and want to keep 50 zł profit. Your target payout is 150 zł.
On Vinted you list at exactly 150 zł — you receive 150 zł when it sells.
On Allegro Lokalnie (non-electronics): 150 ÷ 0.921 = 162.87 zł
On Allegro Lokalnie (Elektronika): 150 ÷ 0.951 = 157.73 zł
The buyer then adds delivery on top of these prices. Your payout stays exactly what you calculated. The include shipping in price page covers how to handle delivery costs in your pricing.

Add room for offers
Every marketplace here involves negotiation. The prices above are your floor, not your ceiling. Add a buffer that reflects:
- Item desirability — popular sizes and brands in high demand get offers more often
- Price position — fast-sell prices get fewer offers; fair-value and max-profit listings negotiate more
- Market depth — common items on Vinted get countered more than niche finds on Allegro
For example, if your target payout is 150 zł, listing at 160–175 zł gives room for negotiation while keeping your minimum intact.
The pricing for offers page covers negotiation strategy in detail.
Check the price against the market
A reverse-calculated asking price that sits far above comparable items is not a pricing problem — it is a sourcing problem. You calculated what you need to keep, but the market is not paying that much. Either:
- The buy price was too high for the condition and demand
- The item should go to a different marketplace where it commands more — the cheapest marketplace by price guide shows where each category sells best
- The target profit was unrealistic for this category
Before you list, compare your calculated asking price against recent comparable listings. If the gap is large, the item was sourced wrong, not priced wrong. This is where reva's Scout helps — it shows what comparable items left the market at, so you can set realistic targets before you buy.
Tiered commissions on Allegro (not Lokalnie)
Allegro's main platform (allegro.pl) uses tiered commission in some categories. The Moda category is a clear example: 11.5% on the first 110 zł, then 7.5% on the amount above 110 zł. Allegro's own fee page shows a worked example — a 200 zł item pays 19.40 zł = 12.65 zł (11.5% × 110) + 6.75 zł (7.5% × 90).
This is different from Allegro Lokalnie's flat fee. If you sell on the main Allegro platform, you need to calculate the tiers to reverse your target payout, which is more complex than the simple division on Lokalnie. For most resellers, Allegro Lokalnie's flat fee is easier to work with.
The formulas here let you work backwards from any target payout. Write down what you need to keep, apply the right division for your marketplace, and list at that number. Add room for offers, check against the market, and adjust your sourcing if the numbers do not align.
