How to Evaluate a Resale Deal in 60 Seconds
Six quick checks that separate a real deal from a cheap mistake.

- Score every listing on six checks (resale estimate, demand, fees, condition, authenticity, max buy price) as green, amber or red. One red means skip; an amber gets one question to the seller or a lower ceiling.
- Use the fee of the marketplace you will sell on. In this page's example, a jacket expected to leave the market at 140 zł allows an item price of about 68 zł for a Vinted resale, but about 61 zł for Allegro Lokalnie at 7.9%.
- Your all-in buy cost includes the buyer fee: on vinted.pl usually 5% + 2.90 zł (price list checked 13 Sept 2026). Recheck after Vinted's updated Terms take effect on 8 October 2026 in Poland.
- No benchmark tells you what profit or ROI is enough. Set both floors from your own hours and cash, and let the max buy formula apply them.

To tell if an item is worth reselling, run six checks before you pay: a realistic resale estimate, how fast similar items leave the market, fees where you will sell, condition, authenticity, and the most you can pay. Score each green, amber or red. One red and you skip. Otherwise buy at or below your max price, or offer once.
The 60 seconds only works if comps, your floors and each selling fee are ready before the listing appears. Platform facts were checked on 13 September 2026. Every other number is an example.
How to tell if an item is worth reselling: the six-check scorecard
| Check | Green | Amber | Red |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Resale estimate | Price below fast sell, enough comps for you | Thin comps, or price below fair value only | No comps that left the market |
| 2. Demand | Exits meet your own target | Too few followed to judge | No exits while you watched |
| 3. Fees | Known fee where you'll sell | Unpublished fee, your records | Buying platform's fee used |
| 4. Condition and count | Photos match | One question settles it | Photos contradict the listing |
| 5. Authenticity | Real photos, labels shown | Label or serial missing | Stock or reused photos |
| 6. Max buy price | All-in within ceiling | Above ceiling, offer could fix it | Ceiling zero or negative |
Decision rules: any red, skip. One amber, send one message that turns it green or red, or lower your ceiling. Two ambers still open after that, skip.
Check 1: what could it realistically sell for?
Estimate from comparable items that left the market, not live asks. Think in ladder levels: fast sell near the cheapest quarter of comparable asks, fair value at the median of exits, max profit capped at 1.25 × fair value. Fast sale or max profit? explains each level.
- Many close, recent comps: plan the resale at fair value.
- Few or scattered comps: plan it at fast sell.
- Only live asks: amber at best.
If the listing already sits at or above fair value, the flip needs a sale above the median: red. Collecting exits without a sold filter is covered in how to find sold comps.
Check 2: how quickly do similar items leave the market?
Example: you follow 15 comparable jackets for 7 days and 6 disappear: 40% within a week. Some may have been deleted rather than sold, so it stays an estimate.
No marketplace publishes a "good" rate. Set the window from when your cash must return and the target from your own sales log. How to check resale demand covers the routine and its traps.
Check 3: fees and shipping on the platform you will sell on
Selling side, into your maths:
- Vinted: the UK, FR, DE and PL price lists show no seller commission. The buyer pays the Buyer Protection fee on top, and pays shipping (UK help page).
- Allegro Lokalnie: 7.9% on "Kup teraz" and auctions, 4.9% in Elektronika, 0 zł on local listings.
- OLX: "Zapłać, jeśli sprzedasz" takes a percentage of the item price, but Annex 6 publishes no rate. Use your own payout records.
Buying side, off your ceiling: on vinted.pl the Buyer Protection fee is "usually" 5% + 2.90 zł (price list dated 15.09.2025), varying with item, order value and bundles.
Decision rule: undecided where you'll resell? Use the highest fee. If the deal survives that, it survives anywhere.
Check 4: condition and item count from the photos
- Condition: Vinted requires a condition and described defects. Compare the grade with close-ups of cuffs, soles and hardware.
- Protection: Vinted's UK help page treats wrong size, undisclosed damage and counterfeits as "significantly not as described"; "doesn't fit" is not. Cover applies to "Buy now" only.
- Count: OLX's Terms require each listing to say whether it is a single item, multiple units or a set.
Decision rule: flaw visible but undescribed? Drop your estimate one ladder level and redo Check 6.
Check 5: authenticity and replica red flags
Vinted's Catalogue Rules call counterfeits "strictly forbidden". Skip on stock or watermarked photos, photos reused across listings, one seller with many near-identical "new" branded items, or a seller who won't photograph the inner label.
Vinted's optional Item Verification costs 45 zł on vinted.pl, £10 in the UK and €10 in France and Germany; add it to your buy cost. Category tells: how to spot fakes and replica listings.
Check 6: your max buy price and whether to offer
The calculator runs:
Its prefilled floors are placeholders, not advice. The result is your all-in cost; on vinted.pl convert it to an item price:
Listing at or below that, other checks green: buy now. Above it: offer once. Result zero or negative: skip. Choosing the sale price and floors is covered on the maximum buy price calculator page.
Negotiating politely as a buyer
- Ask one factual question. "Is the cuff mark a stain or a shadow?"
- Make one offer with that reason. "Dzień dobry, czy zejdzie Pani do 45 zł? Mankiet wymaga czyszczenia."
- Give one final answer. Counter above your item price? Decline, or offer your maximum once.
Pay inside the marketplace: outside OLX delivery there's no Pakiet Ochronny cover, and Allegro Lokalnie protection covers "Kup teraz" and auctions.

Print this section or copy it into a phone note. Every "no" is a question or a skip.
- Conservative resale price backed by comps that left the market
- Comparable items leave the market within my window
- Fee taken from where I will resell
- All-in cost (item, buyer fee, delivery, verification) within my max
- Photos show the actual item, labels visible
- Condition matches the photos; flaws shown or answered
- Item count clear: single, set or bundle
- No replica signals; paying inside the marketplace
In a shop, run lines 5–8 with the item in your hands; the rack routine is in sourcing in lumpeks.
Where listings come from, and how a weekly routine sets your own targets, is in the product sourcing guide.
