How to Price Used Sneakers for Resale
Size runs, condition grades and authentication rules that move sneaker prices.

- A worn pair's comps are worn pairs of the same model and colourway, in your exact size, in the same grade and with the same box situation. Deadstock asks and retail are not comps.
- Each size is its own small market: compare exits with live asks in your size before choosing a level, and never apply a fixed discount per size.
- Vinted's help page 376 (checked 13 Sept 2026) suggests 60–80% of retail for New / Like new, 40–60% for Very good and 20–40% for Good / Satisfactory. For sneakers, soles, heels and insoles decide the grade.
- From £200 on eBay.co.uk and €200 on eBay.de, eligible trainers are authenticated automatically at no cost to the seller. A pair priced near those lines elsewhere needs visible proof: receipt, inner label and box label.
- Drop suspected replicas from your comp set before taking the median, or cheap fakes will drag your fair value down.

Price a used pair from worn pairs of the same model and colourway, in your exact size and grade, with or without the box, that recently left the market. The median of those exits is your fair value. Retail and deadstock asks only set a ceiling.
Used sneaker pricing differs from other clothing in three ways: size splits one model into several markets, sole and heel wear decide the grade, and near certain price lines buyers expect proof. The general method is in the resale pricing guide. Marketplace facts were checked on 13 September 2026; every price below is an example.
What drives a used sneaker's price
Match comps on these factors, in this order, and stop at the first mismatch.
| Factor | What must match |
|---|---|
| Model and colourway | Same line and colourway; the style code, if the brand prints one on the label or box |
| Size | The size on the inner label, in the same size system |
| Condition | Same grade, judged from sole, heel, insole and creasing photos |
| Box and extras | Original box or not |
| Proof | Receipt or label photos, on pairs near authentication price lines |

Size: why the same model has several prices
Supply and demand differ size by size, so count them separately.
Example: you track one model in Very good condition for four weeks. In size 42, 9 pairs leave the market with a median of 240 zł, and 11 are still listed. In size 46, 3 pairs leave at a median of 190 zł, and 8 are still listed.
- If exits outnumber live asks in your size, price at fair value or market ask.
- If live asks clearly outnumber exits, start at balanced.
- If your size has almost no exits, use neighbouring sizes only as loose comps and lower your confidence. Never shift the price by a fixed percentage per size.
Condition grades and how buyers read them
Vinted's pricing help page (376) gives a rough guide: New / Like new 60–80% of retail, Very good 40–60% and Good / Satisfactory 20–40%. The bands are wide, so use them to catch a price that is far off. Comps in the same grade set the number.
Vinted's Catalogue Rules require a condition, a description of defects and real photos, not stock images. For sneakers, that means:
- Both outsoles and both heels, in daylight
- Toe box from the side, to show creasing
- Insoles and the inner size label
- Every flaw you mention, close up
Vinted UK's help page 1090 lists undisclosed damage and an incorrect size among not-as-described reasons. How condition changes resale price covers grading and claim risk in depth.
Box, laces and extras
Compare boxed pairs only with boxed comps, and unboxed pairs only with unboxed comps.
Example: in size 42, Very good, exits with the original box have a median of 250 zł and exits without it 215 zł. Your pair has no box, so it is a 215 zł pair. Put "no box" (or "bez pudełka" on OLX and Allegro Lokalnie) in the title.
- A replacement box is not the original. Say so: undisclosed missing parts are a claim reason on Vinted UK.
- A receipt is proof, not just an extra. It matters most on expensive pairs.
- Spare laces don't create a new comp group, but show them in a photo.
Finding comparable listings that actually left the market
The official Vinted, OLX and Allegro Lokalnie pages we read mention no public sold history. You log comparable listings and note the last price of the ones that disappear; the routine is in how to find sold comps.
Keep three lists apart:
- Worn exits in your size set fair value.
- Worn live asks in your size are your competition.
- Deadstock asks are a ceiling, never a comp. On GOAT, an ask is before a 9.5% commission (at the starting seller rating) plus a seller fee, $6 for sellers in Poland (fee policy updated 1 August 2026).
Don't paste eBay sold prices into a zł comp set either; Vinted vs eBay shows how fees differ.
Proof and authentication: how they change buyer trust
On expensive pairs, buyers price in the risk of a fake. eBay authenticates eligible trainers automatically; on Vinted, a buyer can pay for Item Verification on top of your price.
| Vinted Item Verification | eBay.co.uk | eBay.de | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who starts it | Buyer opts in | Automatic for eligible trainers | Automatic for eligible sneakers |
| Cost | £10 · €10 · 45 zł per item, paid by the buyer | Free to the seller | Free to the seller |
| Sneaker price line | Set by Vinted's eligibility rules | £200 and up | €200 and up |
| Below the line | Always optional | Optional check, £20 | Optional check, €20, buyer pays |
- If your price is near or above £200 or €200, buyers can get a checked pair on eBay. Show the receipt, inner label and box label, or price from balanced rather than market ask.
- If you sell hand-to-hand, no programme checks the pair, so your photos carry all the proof.
A counterfeit counts as not as described on Vinted UK. Vinted has announced updated Terms taking effect on 5 October 2026 in Germany and France and 8 October 2026 in the UK and Poland; press reports say sellers get 48 hours instead of 24 to provide authenticity evidence. Channel rules are on the where-to-sell guide, and eligibility on Vinted Item Verification.
Choosing a price level: fast sale or maximum
Your comps give fair value. The ladder turns it into five prices, and max profit never exceeds fair value × 1.25.
- Common size, many identical pairs listed: balanced or fair value.
- More exits than asks, clean photos, box: market ask.
- No box, heel drag or thin comps: fast sell or balanced.
In euro, example: a €80 fair value caps max profit at €100. When to step down is in choosing a price level.
Red flags that signal a replica
Cheap fakes in your comp set pull the median down. Drop any listing with two or more of these:
- A "new" pair priced below worn exits of the same model and size
- The same model listed as new in a run of sizes by one seller
- Catalogue or stock photos
- No inner size label or box label photo
